Nobody is sure who will win this match-up, the bookies have had both Bulldogs and Dockers as favourites in the last week. It looks like the Doggies will be faves at the bounce, they can be currently be backed at $1.87. These two sides gave us a humdinger in Round 7 last season, and with both teams packed with quality midfielders, I think this maybe a repeat.
The Dockers are expected to get rid of their defensive approach and play more expansive footy this season after falling short of their maiden century in 2015. However, don’t expect the Bulldogs to make any changes to their style, their fast footy fits the bill at the Etihad, and will lead to a lot of high scoring affairs. I’m backing Fremantle to come out with the spoils at $2.1.
I expect the Bulldogs to come out with high intensity in the first quarter at home, which is why I’m also on them to be leading at quarter time but lose at $6.4.

Port Adelaide v St Kilda
Port had a season to forget in 2015, I fancied them to go all the way and challenge in finals, not for the first time I was very wrong. Saying that, I still think this one could be the most one sided affair in the round. They had a pretty disappointing Nab Challenge, only beating Richmond in their last game. Saints also didn’t have a Nab to remember, losing both of their fixtures.
The Saints are still building and will probably improve on last year’s finishing, however I can’t look past Port winning this one at a short $1.2 with Bet365.
The reliable Chad Wingard has won me a few first goal scorer bets over the years, I’m going to stick with my man to get the job done Sunday afternoon. Wingard is $9 to kick the first with Sportsbet.

West Coast v Brisbane
It looks like the Lions could be on the end of thrashing when they face the Eagles this weekend. West Coast almost went all the way last season, a lot of pundits are expecting them to go one further this season, and they couldn’t have been given a better opener to get the ball rolling. Lions will unleash No.2 pick Josh Schache on Sunday, even with Schache they won’t be optimistic because of their shocking recent form in Perth.
Unfortunately my old boys will have a day to forget, I’m backing West Coast to lead after every quarter at $1.27 with Sportsbet. Looking for a bit more value? Jack Darling looks decent value at $12 to kick the first of the game.
