Collingwood Magpies v Richmond Tigers

Pies fans, stop pinching yourselves. Your nightmare start to 2016, complete with drugs scandal, an 80-point loss to Sydney and a serious injury to Dane Swan, is real. Saturday night’s shellacking at the SCG made for uncomfortable viewing and the blowtorch will be firmly on Collingwood when they take on Richmond in the Friday night spotlight. Swan’s foot injury is a massive blow and while the Tigers were far from convincing when they squeaked home against the Blues in round one, we think they will be too good in this one. We’re going for a Richmond-Richmond half-time/full-time double paying $2.1 with Sportsbet. The Tigers to score first and win is also $2.75 with Sportsbet.

Three Swans players had over 34 disposals against Collingwood last weekend, Pies were pretty woeful and without Swann they could be even worse. Dustin Martin is many pundits pick for an outside chance of stealing the Brownlow, he averaged 25 disposals last year and is expected to improve on that number this campaign. He’s well worth backing to have 30+ disposals on Friday night at $3.7.

Lost by 18 or less? Nevermind, Crownbet will refund your stake as a bonus bet with their AFL Insurance Offer. T&Cs apply.

Adelaide Crows v Port Adelaide Power

Get your pie floater in the oven and Redbacks on ice, Showdown XL looks set to be a classic. Both South Australian teams had tough contests first up but with differing results as the Crows succumbed to North Melbourne and Port eventually shook off a determined St Kilda. Speedster Matthew White (pectoral) will miss this one for the Power. Adelaide showed plenty in their 10-point loss to the Roos and we reckon punters will be eating up the $2.35 on offer with Luxbet for the Crows to win this Saturday. We are also backing Adelaide to win the race to 50 points ($2.15 with Sportsbet).

Seven St Kilda players had 25+ disposals against Port last weekend, which nobody saw coming. We’re backing the Crows to take the spoils in the all Adelaide clash, for this to happened Scott Thompson needs to be firing. Thompson had 30 disposals last weekend and averaged just under 27 for the year in 2015, we’re backing him to have 30+ disposals against the Power doubled with Tex Walker kicking three or more at $4.9.

Essendon Bombers v Melbourne Demons

The Dees left it late in their nail-biting, two-point triumph over GWS at the weekend but anyone who followed our tip for them to get up at the juicy odds of $2.50 would have been making it rain at full-time. Melbourne are up and about and have a massive opportunity to make a 2-0 start to the season for the first time in 11 years when they take on the doping suspension-hit Bombers at the ‘G on Saturday arvo. Essendon allowed Gold Coast 36 scoring shots in their 61-point loss in round one and that is a few too many. Go for Melbourne to lead at every break, which is paying $1.50 with Sportsbet, and the Dees to win by 60 points or more ($2.90 with Sportsbet).

Jesse Hogan will be a superstar, he kicked three last week to inspire the Demons to victory against GWS. He’ll get even more chances this round, he’s well worth backing at $1.67 to kick another hat-trick.

Brisbane Lions v North Melbourne

After copping football’s toughest road trip in round one, the Lions are back at their Gabba home on Saturday. However, the opposition does not get much easier. Brissy were hardly disgraced in their loss to West Coast in Perth at the weekend, but they face another top-four quality opposition in North this Saturday night and we think the Roos will be a class above. The boys from Arden Street were not completely convincing in a slender triumph over Adelaide but they got the job done and that is what good teams do. Go for a North/North half-time/full-time double, which is paying $1.55 with Sportsbet but Brisbane to be the first team to score, paying $2.17 with Unibet.

Jack Ziebell isn’t a household name but he had one of his better performances for North in Round one, he had 26 disposals against Adelaide. On paper the Kangaroos should find it much easier going against Brisbane. We’re backing Ziebell to have over 25 disposals again at $2.45.

St Kilda Saints v Western Bulldogs

One of last season’s big movers, the Bullies, made a massive statement in round one when they obliterated Fremantle to the tune of 65 points. Fasten your seat belts if you are part of the red, white and blue army, because the Bulldogs look set to rocket even higher this year. St Kilda showed plenty of fight to stay with Port for most of the game last Sunday, but the fleet-footed Dogs look tough to beat on the hard Docklands surface and we think they will lead at every change ($1.88 with Sportsbet). We also like the look of Palmerbet’s $2.50 for Footscray to win by 40 points or more.

Jackson Macrae and Jake Stringer are vital for Western Bulldog’s chances of making the finals, they were at their best last weekend. Macrae having 30 disposals and Stringer kicking five against Freo. Macrae to have over 30 possessions and Stringer to kick three or more at $2.85 looks well worth a bet.

Think the Saints can do produce an upset? You're crazy but get on these enhancements by Ladbrokes, $8 for Jack Steven to have 28 or more disposals & St Kilda win the match or Nick Riewoldt to Kick 3 or More Goals and St Kilda Win the Match.

Fremantle Dockers v Gold Coast Suns

We will get a better idea in this clash about how much of a wake-up call the Dockers’ round-one spanking at the hands of the Western Bulldogs represented this weekend. The Suns had a good win over Essendon and we expected that, however, we were not ready for Freo’s 65-point belting. The port club’s Achilles heel, their forward line, functioned woefully in round one. They booted only five goals for the game but they will bounce back on Saturday night. We are backing them to win by at least 31 points ($1.72 with Luxbet) and to be the team to score last ($1.65 with Centrebet).

Everyone has been waiting for Fyfe and Ablett to clash, the two best players in the league go head to head in Round two. Last year’s Brownlow winner went missing last week, however he’s boosted by Sandilands returning alongside him. Even though the Dockers star will have to play out of skin to have more disposals than Gary, the $6.5 on offer for him to have the most in the game is too good to ignore.

Oddschecker's Best Offers

Get $2.5 for Nat Fyfe to have 28 or more Disposals & Fremantle win the match with Ladbrokes.
Get $3.5 for Matthew Pavlich to Kick 4 or More Goals and Fremantle Win the Match with Ladbrokes.

Fancy Gary to be the main man? Ladbrokes are offering $9 for him to have 32 or more Disposals & Gold Coast win the match or to Kick 2 or More Goals and Suns Win the Match

Greater Western Sydney Giants v Geelong Cats

After leading by 21 points at three-quarter time, the Giants let Melbourne back in on Saturday afternoon and that two-point loss looks set to be compounded this weekend when they take on a white-hot Geelong. Boom recruit Patrick Dangerfield had a day out against Hawthorn on Easter Monday in his side’s hard-fought 30-point victory at the ‘G and the star midfielder is towering over this contest at Manuka. Dangerfield had 43 touches, including 21 contested possessions, and 10 inside 50s against the Hawks. The Giants do not have a match-up capable of running with him. Back Geelong to win by at least 25 points, paying $2.25 with Luxbet, and the first scoring play to be a Cats goal which pays $3.20 with corporates.

Patrick Dangerfield will have another one to remember, he was simply outstanding last weekend and we expect a repeat performance against GWS. The ex Adelaide star can be backed at $1.75 to have over 30 disposals.

Hawthorn Hawks v West Coast Eagles

They say a week is a long time in football. It could even be the difference in this game. Hawthorn were beaten up on Easter Monday by the Cats and will head into Sunday’s grand final rematch at the ‘G off the dreaded six-day break. The Eagles did it easy against Brisbane on Sunday and should be fresh after a full week of recovery. Luke Hodge (arm) is a massive out for the reigning premiers and forward Jarryd Roughead (knee) is also not there. But the Eagles will miss Sharrod Wellingham (knee), Dom Sheed (pec) and Xavier Ellis (Achilles), so we are backing the Hawks to win ($2 with Hills and Centrebet) and both teams to score 80 points, ($1.75 with William Hill and Centrebet).

Josh Kennedy showed last week why he’s favourite to win the Coleman, the combination of Naitanui and the Eagles midfield always makes Kennedy a good bet for the first goal kicker, we’re backing him at $8 with Sportsbet.

Get $4 for Cyril Rioli to Kick 3 or More Goals and Hawthorn Win the Match with Ladbrokes.

Carlton Blues v Sydney Swans

The Bluebaggers put up a mighty fight in the season opener against Richmond last week before eventually being pipped but Sunday’s twilight task against perennial challengers Sydney will be another huge assignment. The Swans dismembered Collingwood in round one and Buddy Franklin was back in the thick of things as he booted 4.1. The Bloods’ tall forward combo of Franklin and Kurt Tippett is the AFL’s hardest to match up on. Combining that with Sydney’s rampant midfield of Tom Mitchell, Kieren Jack, Luke Parker, Josh Kennedy and Dan Hannebery will mean that they will be too much for the Blues at Docklands. Go for Sydney to win by at least 31 points ($1.65 with Luxbet) and the Swans to score first and win ($1.79 with Unibet).

Daniel Hannebery didn’t have the best game last week even though the Swans smashed Collingwood. Sydney face much easier opponents this weekend, we’re backing Hannebery to bounce back and have 30+ disposals at $1.76. Which looks good value seeming as he averaged 30 a game for the whole of last season.

Get $2.5 for Lance Franklin to Kick 5 or More Goals and Sydney Swans Win the Match with Ladbrokes
Get $2.5 for our tips Daniel Hannebery to have 30 or more disposals & Sydney win the match with Ladbrokes
