The Cats have shot to favouritism after winning seven from eight this term, and are of the back of an outstanding win against the Crows. The Pies are also of a good win, after they put away Brisbane with ease in Round 8. However, there is no chance Collingwood will win this weekend…
The heat is on Nathan Buckley, last weekend eased some of the pressure but at the end of the day they were only playing the Lions. Their big players stood out last time out, Pendlebury, Sidebottom and Treloar all helped themselves to 30+ possessions. They won’t find it as easy going against Dangerfield and Selwood though.
Chris Scott will be expecting a win, and a big win at that. I’ll be shocked if you find any tipsters giving Collingwood a chance. Get on the Cats to win by 25+ at $1.5.
Even I’m getting bored of waxing lyrically about Patrick Dangerfield, but once again I’m jumping on the ex-Adelaide star. Danger is in career best form, and at the minute backing him to have 30 or more disposals should be regular weekend punt for all. He’ll enjoy playing the Pies, get on him at $1.65.
Gold Coast v Adelaide
No Hall and No Ablett…Suns shouldn’t even bother turning up.
The Sun was shining on the Gold Coast when they won their three opening games of the season but the wheels have well and truly come off. They’ve dropped five on the bounce, and even more worrying they’ve been smashed in their last three. Adelaide have had a funny season, they’ve promised a lot but are still 4-4.
The top 8 looks almost complete already, a win today will be a huge step forward for Don Pyke’s team to secure their place. Crows have got a star-studded forward line, and they will be licking their lips at the supply they’ll get today.
Jump on Adelaide to win, there isn’t a lot of value in this one, but I think it will be a massive win for the Crows therefore backing Adelaide 60+ at $2.15.
Once again I’m backing the ever reliable Eddie Betts to kick the first of the game at $8.
Port Adelaide v West Coast
West Coast have two different teams, the one that doesn’t show up when on the road and the world beaters who run out at home. They’re a much better team than Port, but I don’t have any confidence in backing them away from home.
Port themselves have been unreliable this season, winning four of their eight games this seasons, all their wins are against lesser opposition. There will be a bit of heat in this fixture being an interstate game, which will heap more pressure on the Eagles being away from home.
Eagles are the better team, but in current form and being an interstate game I’m getting on Port at the line.
If you’re hunting for a bit of value this weekend then backing Priddis to have over 30 disposals and Dixon to kick three or more at $4.5 is your bet!
North Melbourne v Carlton
Kanga’s can go, and will go nine from nine!
Unfortunately my old boys hot streak will come to a stop this weekend, but what an effort from the boys, nobody saw this run coming. They face a North team who only just managed to get over the line against Essendon.
The odds suggest this will be one sided, I think it will be a lot closer than expected. However I still expect North to get the job done, especially with their tall forwards. Waite, Petrie and Brown have been immense this season, expect them to add to their tally’s in round nine. The win price is $1.25 but I’m going to get on them to at HT/FT at $1.48.
Waite had a quiet game against Essendon last weekend, but the experienced forward has kicked 25 this season. I’m backing him to add another four today at $2.5.
Fremantle v Richmond
What an amazing result for the Tigers last weekend! I didn’t see that coming, this will give their boys all the confidence in the world! Which was desperately needed!
If they ever wanted to string a couple of wins together, today’s the day. They face Freo who were showing signs of being back to their best in the first half against the Hawks before they slumped to another loss.
I thought I was still grogged when I saw Tigers were $1.7! Doesn’t make much sense, but probably says a lot about the state of Richmond Football Club at the moment. With confidence at an all time low and big players missing, I’m pilling into a Richmond win.
You all know I’m a huge fan of Dustin Martin, he’s struggled with the pressure on his shoulders this season, that said, he’s still produced the goods on a few occasions. I’m on him to have 30 disposals or more at $2.9 today.
Melbourne v Brisbane
Melbourne have developed into a pretty consistent team, who still have an outside chance of a top eight finish. I’m shocked to be writing that they’re $1.14 faves for a game this season, but they proved me wrong.
Brisbane have been a funny old team, they played amazingly against Sydney, but then completely lost the plot when they played the Pies. It’s going to be difficult for them to bounce back after such a defeat, especially against a team full of confidence.
Melbourne have struggled with favortism before, however this won’t be the case on Sunday. They’ll cruise to a victory, get on them to win by 25+ at $1.47.
Jesse Hogan was pretty quiet last week, but he’s shown on more than one occasion he can score big, he’s kicked a steady 18 this season and once again I’m on him to add another four at $2.2
GWS v Western Bulldogs
I’ve had a pop at the Giants on numerous occasions this season but they’re starting to look a serious outfit with Cameron firing. Other than the Friday night game this is the match of the round.
Both sides enter the game with six wins under their belt, however because of the dominant home form GWS enter faves. A venue they smashed the Hawks at a few weeks ago, and also beat Gold Coast by 91 points last time out.
Giants rank number one in the league in disposals, and if they can get the supply to Cameron the $1.45 price tag starts to look like value. Get on the Giants to win and also get on Steve Johnson to kick four or more at an attractive $4.
St Kilda v Essendon
I’ve seen reports calling this one a thrilling clash, either I can’t detect sarcasm or I don’t understand footy. I very much doubt I’ll go out my way to watch the Saints taking on the Bombers this weekend.
St Kilda were pumped against West Coast last weekend, even though they were playing a good team away from home, scoring just 29 points is pretty woeful. Essendon on the other hand can come out of Round 8 with some pride, they battled against North, and had some very good individual performances.
The Saints have played some decent footy this season and have got too much for the Bombers, jump on them to win by 40+ at $2.48.
If I am going to watch this game, I need a reason, therefore I’m getting on Goddard to have 30+ disposals and Membrey to kick three or more at $8.5.
