Port Adelaide v Weastern Bulldogs
Two big wins for these pair last week should set up an enthralling battle at the Adelaide Oval. Western Bulldogs carry the superior record this season but their form interstate has been suspect, home advantage plays into Port’s hands.
Port are a funny old team, a couple of class players, but a few very ordinary. Port can’t decide what sort of team they want to be this season, they’ve won three in a row but we don’t have to go back that far and they lost out to the Blues.
Everything points to a home win, but I’m not tipping that. Here’s why, Bulldogs are conceding just 70 points per game this season. Port lack match winners in their forward-line, they won’t get many chances to kick goals today. Even though Dixon, Young and Wingard haven’t embarrassed themselves in front of the posts this year, I fell they’ll struggle against the best defence in the league. Jump on the Bulldogs to win, especially as they’re $2.25.
Lachlan Hunter is having a cracking season, the Bulldogs gun is sitting third overall in terms of disposals this season. He’s short odds at $1.41 to have 30+ today, but in his form this looks a sure thing!
Brisbane Lions v Fremantle
Every round throws up a shocker, this match is defiantly this weeks…
Three games into the round and we’ve got a stinker, both teams will be fighting it out for their second win of the year, massive! Freo have improved of late, recording their first win and pushing Hawthorn all the way. However, they’ve had a shocker with injuries and today is no different.
The Lions beat the Suns a few rounds back, but since they’ve been pretty poor, this is a huge game for them. They welcome back a couple of key defenders, which will be welcome after their 38 point loss to the Blues last time out.
With Freo’s injury list I have to back Brisbane today, their price is very inviting at $2.25.
Tom Rockliff put in one of his best performances last time out, I’m backing him to have over 30 disposals, but to spice it up I’m doubling it into Zorko to kick three or more at $4.
Geelong v North Melbourne
This is the game of the round, both teams look like they’ll finish in the top four this season. The Cats were many peoples pick to win the minor premiership this season before a couple of unexpected wobbles of late. North started the season with a bang, and have only lost one game this campaign.
Both teams come of the back of healthy wins, North embarrassed Richmond, whilst Geelong kept Cameron quiet and beat GWS by ten points. The Roo’s tall forward line have troubled many oppenents this year, backed up with a very classy midfield. Everyone know Geelong’s midfield is their strength, with Selwood and Dangerfield.
Geelong normally dominate teams in the midfield, today they’ll struggle to do so, as Ziebell, Cunnington and Wells are all playing great footy. The game will be won by the forwards, and with Hawkins out, North have the advantage here. For the third game in a row, I’m tipping the outsider, get on North Melbourne to win at $2.16.
After being out with injury Wells has returned in good form, the North Melbourne midfielder had 29 disposals against Richmond last week, I’m being quite ballsy and backing him to have the most possessions today at a huge $14.
West Coast v Adelaide
Both West Coast and Adelaide need to win today to keep the top four dream alive. The Eagles winning streak came to an end last week when they were humbled by Western Bulldogs. The Crows have won three of their last four as they crank up their assault up the ladder.
The West Coast Eagles are a different specimen at the Domain Stadium, I can’t bring myself to tip against them at home. Even with Adelaide’s recent form, they just won’t win today. Get on the Eagles to win at $1.45.
Josh Kennedy will be disappointed with his return against the Bulldogs last weekend, the West Coast forward only managed to kick one goal. This came off the back of kicking 23 in his last five games, if the big man get an early couple he has the potential to kick a hat-full, get on him to have 4+ at $2.25.
