Geelong v Sydney Swans

What a ding-dong battle we’ve got on our hands for the Preliminary Final at the MCG on Friday Night! Geelong take on Sydney for a spot in the Grand Final!

This should be belter, two of best midfields clash, Geelong host likely Brownlow winner Dangerfield along with their other star Selwood. However they’ll be against three All Australians in Kennedy, Parker and Hannebery. A threesome that shouldn’t be take too lightly.

The Swans have had an up-and-down finals series, after a rather shocking loss to GWS they bounced back with a big win against the Crows. Even though they’ll take confidence into the Premlim, they’ll be suffering from the short-break. The Cats on the otherhand accounted for the Hawks by two points and have had plenty of time to rest waiting for this game.

Geelong are in fine-form, they’ve won their last eight games, however their last defeat was to the Swans in Round 16. Another interesting battle will be between the forwards, Hawkins can be one of the best in the comp on his day, but he’ll need to be on-song against this defence. At the other end is Franklin, who’ll be desperate to reach another final especially after missing out on the Coleman.

I’m going to back Geelong to win this, if both teams came into the clash with similar rest-breaks it would be a lot harder to call. However they’ve had the break and are also in vintage form. They won’t run away with it, so take the Cats 1-39 at $2.15.

Expect Dangerfield to shine, not only am I backing the gun to have his standard 30+ disposals but to also kick three or more goals at $11. Another player worth backing to have 30+ disposals is Sydney’s Luke Parker. He’s not had the best time in his last three outings, but hit 30+ eight times in the regular season get on at $2.4.
