Brendan Fevola - Grand Final Betting Tips
Sydney head in clear favourites, but the money is coming for the bulldogs! What a final we've got!
Sydney Swans v Western Bulldogs
Something is missing today… it’s such a strange feeling not having Hawthorn running out for the Grand Final. I quite like it! Even without Hawthorn we’ve got quite the story at the MCG this weekend!
The Swans are looking to claim their sixth premiership, their first since 2012. However, the story is all about Western Bulldogs, nobody expected them to get this far, they’re looking for their first Flag since 1954, the longest drought in football. Seventy years without getting one way, gee whiz that’s a long time for those poor blokes in the crowd. You have to feel if they don’t get the job done this season it could still be some wait for the next opportunity.
Bevvo has worked his magic with the Bulldogs, especially in finals. Nobody gave them a chance when we saw the final eight teams, me included, but the seventh placed team have produced the goods time and time again. When it comes to the Grand Final you can throw all the regular season form out of the window, this is a one off, who wants it more!
Unlike a younger Brendan Fevola I’m going to sit on the fence a little. Firstly I do believe that Sydney Swans have the superior team on paper, but as I’ve mentioned that doesn’t always matter. Just look at last season, Kennedy was the gun heading into the weekend and didn’t show up, big players can go missing in the Grand Final. Secondly, I don’t want this Western Bulldogs fairy-tale to end! There is a real buzz around Victoria, probably because someone other than the Hawks are going to get up.
I’m not willing to say that the Swans will lose but I think it will be a close encounter and Western Bulldogs style and determination give them a real chance of winning. $1.92 for the Bulldogs +11.5 is just too good to refuse.
Western Bulldogs will need a massive performance for their midfield to compete with the guns in the Swans line-up. Bontempelli has been taking the headlines lately, but Lachlan Hunter will go about his business once again, and is value at $3.3 to have 30+ disposals in the Grand Final. He’s had a fairly disappointing finals series in terms of disposals, but as he showed against Sydney last time they met he’s up for the task.
Buddy Franklin is a gun, I know I’ve mentioned Kennedy going missing last year, however $1.83 for Franklin to kick three today is great value! Whilst you’re there chuck in Jake Stringer to bag three for the Western Bulldogs at $3.75.
Finally, my nick for the Norm Smith Medal is Jake Stringer at a massive $41, if the Bulldogs are too get up they’ll need a massive performance from him.
