CARLTON V RICHMOND - Thursday night, 7:20pm MCG

It pains me to say it but Richmond are the specials of the week.

The young Blues will get better as the season goes on but the Tigers will be getting their supporters excitement levels up for the season by starting the year with a win.

I am confident Dustin Martin will find plenty of the footy and Jack Riewoldt will kick a bag of goals.

THE MATCH TIP:

RICHMOND

SUGGESTED BET:

RICHMOND -13.5

SUGGESTED BET:

DUSTIN MARTIN TO HAVE 30 DISPOSALS OR MORE

LEADING GOALKICKER:

JACK RIEWOLDT

COLLINGWOOD V WESTERN BULLDOGS - Friday night, 7:50pm MCG

Going wide here and found value with the Pies set to score the upset.

Collingwood will win this and are great odds to do so ($3.15 at Crownbet).

The Pies will lift after a tough week off the field while the Bulldogs are vulnerable with a premiership hangover and a few injuries.

Keep an eye on Scott Pendlebury to have a big game.

THE MATCH TIP:

COLLINGWOOD 1-39

SUGGESTED BET:

COLLINGWOOD HALF/FULL DOUBLE

SUGGESTED BET:

SCOTT PENDLEBURY to gain 30 disposals or more

ST KILDA V MELBOURNE – Saturday afternoon, 4:35pm Etihad Stadium

I am tipping the Saints to get their campaign off to a winning start.

St Kilda will win a close one and look for Josh Bruce to have a big game up forward.

We know what a great record the Saints have against the Dee's and they love playing at Etihad. Maybe its because they can hit the town afterwards....

It won’t be all one-way traffic though and I believe the Melbourne will keep it competitive, so punters should look for the Saints to win but Under 39.5 Points.

THE MATCH TIP:

STKILDA

SUGGESTED BET:

STKILDA 1-39 WINNING MARGIN

SUGGESTED BET:

JACK STEVEN 30 DISPOSALS OR MORE

SYDNEY V PORT ADELAIDE – Saturday afternoon, 4:35pm SCG

ESSENDON V HAWTHORN – Saturday night, 7:25pm MCG

There is an upset brewing here and the Bombers could be ready to deliver.

I am going with Essendon to cause the upset because this is a game they have probably been anticipating a long time for.

The Bombers have been waiting all summer to get out there and play together again and they are are up against a Hawks team that will build throughout the season.

Essendon will come out breathing fire, so not only am I predicting that they will win, but they will get off to a flying start so don't be afraid to have a bet on them leading at every quarter.

Dyson Heppell will start the season with a bang and get on him for the most disposals.

THE MATCH TIP:

ESSENDON

SUGGESTED BET:

ESSENDON LEAD EVERY QUARTER

SUGGESTED BET:

DYSON HEPPELL TO HAVE 30 DISPOSALS OR MORE

GOLD COAST V BRISBANE – Saturday night, 7:05pm Metricon Stadium

This is a great opportunity for the Gold Coast to start their season on a high.

As far as I’m concerned Gold Coast will spank them, they start the season well and have shown pre-season they will hit the ground running. Don't be afraid to take the sauce here.

The Suns should comfortably cover the 18.5 Line and I reckon you should be more a bit more ambitious on them winning by 40 points or more.

Big Tom Lynch should be a force up forward and look at him to be the top goal scorer.

THE MATCH TIP:

GOLD COAST

SUGGESTED BET:

GOLD COAST -18.5 LINE

SUGGESTED BET:

GOLD COAST 40+ WINNING MARGIN

NORTH MELBOURNE V WEST COAST – Sunday afternoon, 1:10pm Etihad Stadium

Beware the Eagles because I think they are somewhat of a forgotten team heading into the season.

The Eagles are sneaking under the radar nicely but should be way too strong for a North Melbourne side that most expect to drop out of the eight.

West Coast has struggled away from home in recent years, but get the perfect chance to make an early statement.

Sam Mitchell got leather poisoning in the pre-season and bank on him racking up 30 or more touches in his first game in the Blue and Gold.

THE MATCH TIP:

WEST COAST

SUGGESTED BET:

WEST COAST -15.5

SUGGESTED BET:

SAM MITCHELL 30+ DISPOSALS

ADELAIDE V GWS – Sunday afternoon, 3:20pm Adelaide Oval

Many people including myself are tipping big things for GWS in 2017.

The Giants are going to be a juggernaut in 2017 and despite the tough start to the season with a game away to the Crows, they should be good enough to make a winning start.

Rarely will we get $1.65 on the Giants through the season so back that and have a ticket on star forward Jeremy Cameron booting the first goal.

Have a bet on my mate Eddie Betts snagging the first goal scorer.

THE MATCH TIP:

GWS GIANTS

SUGGESTED BET:

JEREMEY CAMERON MOST GOALS

SUGGESTED BET:

EDDIE BETTS FIRST GOAL SCORER

FREMANTLE V GEELONG – Sunday afternoon, 4:40pm Domain Stadium

Geelong should get off to a winning start here despite being away from home.

The Cats will be good enough to start the season with a win, the Dockers were the disappointments of 2016 and while they should improve this year, the Cats will have too much class to get the job done.

From a punting perspective I like the Cats getting the job done 1-39 and keen to take the $2.14 with Palmerbet.

THE MATCH TIP:

GEELONG

SUGGESTED BET:

GEELONG 1-39

SUGGESTED BET:

JOEL SELWOOD MOST DISPOSALS
