FEVOLA Round 2 Betting Preview
The King, Brendan Fevola, is back with more expert tips for round 2.
RICHMOND V COLLINGWOOD - Thursday night, 7:20pm MCG
Can Richmond go back-to-back to start the season?
I was on the money last week against the poor old Blues but the Magpies are a slightly harder proposition here.
Richmond really impressed me last week and if they can harness that energy into some consistency then I think they will get the cash here over the Pies.
It wouldn’t surprise me to see Dustin Martin get plenty of touches on the Sherrin so maybe look at the different options in the Disposals markets.
THE MATCH TIP: RICHMOND
30+ DISPOSALS: DUSTIN MARTIN
WESTERN BULLDOGS V SYDNEY SWANS - Friday night, 7:50pm Etihad
Going for a bit of value here with the Swans set to bounce back from their shock loss last weekend.
The $2.50 on offer for the Swans in the marketplace is good value, especially at Etihad Stadium, where I feel the Sydneysiders could have somewhat of an edge.
I’m prepared to forgive their loss to the Power last week but they will want to improve if they want to get the cash in the Grand Final replay here.
I think Buddy is set to have a ripper of game so look to him in Goalscorer markets.
THE MATCH TIP: SYDNEY
MOST DISPOSALS: JACK LLOYD
HAWTHORN V ADELAIDE – Saturday afternoon, 1:45pm MCG
The Hawks are bouncing back here!
Last week they came up against a fired-up Essendon outfit who had something to prove. Remember, the Bombers had the entire off-season to think about that game and probably jumped the Hawks.
They should get back to their winning ways here.
If they are to win then I think a lot of the credit will be for Luke Hodge who should be really active throughout the game. Expect him to dominate proceedings against the Crows.
THE MATCH TIP: HAWTHORN
FIRST GOALSCORER: JARRYD ROUGHEAD
MOST TOUCHES: LUKE HODGE
GWS V GOLD COAST – Saturday afternoon, 4:35pm Spotless Stadium
The real GWS should stand up and deliver a statement here.
I think most people, including myself, were shocked that they were beaten last week but looking back at 2016 they actually did the same thing and lost the opening game to Melbourne. That didn’t stop them from making the Prelim Final.
They should be way to good for a Suns outfit that gave away too big a start last week against the Brisbane Lions.
Gold Coast are already up against it in my eyes and will do well if they get home with the advantage of the Line, although I don’t think 39.5 is going to be enough for them.
THE MATCH TIP: GWS
LINE: GWS -39.5
MOST GOALS: JEREMY CAMERON
BRISBANE V ESSENDON – Saturday night, 7:27pm The Gabba
This game is a little harder than it looks but I’m keen on the Bombers.
I know it’s a short price to have on a team like Essendon at this stage of the season but you can’t help but be impressed with what they did last week.
Not sure if they will get it their own way here though because Brisbane could be up for the challenge, as they were last week against the Suns.
THE MATCH TIP: ESSENDON
MARGIN: ESSENDON 1-39
30+ DISPOSALS: DAYNE BEAMS
MOST GOALS: JOE DANIHER
WEST COAST V ST KILDA – Saturday night, 7:42pm Domain Stadium
I tipped the West Coast to win this before I even knew who they were playing!
That is how impressed I was with their performance over North Melbourne in Round 1.
The way they moved the football around was brilliant to watch and if they keep up that style of play they are going to give headaches to whoever stands in their way.
I think Josh Kennedy is set to have a big game with the likes of Sam Mitchell and Matt Priddis to dominate with plenty of touches and quality possession.
WINNER: WEST COAST
MOST GOALS: JOSH KENNEDY
FIRST GOALSCORER: JOSH KENNEDY
30+ DISPOSALS: SAM MITCHELL or MATT PRIDDIS
GEELONG V NORTH MELBOURNE – Sunday afternoon, 1:10pm Etihad Stadium
I am tipping Geelong here although I don’t think it will be an easy kill for them.
They have to come back from Perth and that is never an easy thing to do. I will say they were impressive against the Dockers so they have early season form.
North weren’t half bad against the West Coast in Round 1 so I believe they will put up some sort of fight here against Geelong.
I won’t want to take the Kangaroos straight out though – look for them at the Line and in Handicap betting.
THE MATCH TIP: GEELONG
LINE: NORTH MELBOURNE +28.5
FIRST GOALSCORER: STEVE MOTOLOP
30+ DISPOSALS: JACK ZIEBELL
MELBOURNE DEMONS V CARLTON BLUES – Sunday afternoon, 3:20pm MCG
The Demons look the goods here against my Blues.
As much as it hurts to say it, Melbourne should dominate this game on what we saw in the opening week’s play.
My tip is for Jesse Hogan to have a bumper game so he could be the one that represents value in the Most Goals markets. I am keen on Jack Watts to open the scoring though and he is my tip to put the first goal through the sticks.
THE MATCH TIP: MELBOURNE
MOST GOALS: JESSE HOGAN
FIRST GOALSCORER: JACK WATTS
PORT ADELAIDE V FREMANTLE – Sunday afternoon, 4:40pm Adelaide Oval
Let the good times roll for the Port Adelaide Power.
In a week of upsets, Port’s victory over the Swans in Sydney had to be seen to be believed – they were really, really good!
Can they keep up that momentum now that they go into this game as favourites? I think they can and will make it two-for-two against a Dockers outfit which appears to struggling early on.
THE MATCH TIP: PORT ADELAIDE
LINE: PORT ADELAIDE -22.5
30+ DISPOSALS: HAMISH HARTLETT
3+ GOALS: ROBBIE GRAY
