The Sydney Swans are an unprecedented 0-3 and need to win to keep their season alive.

They have won nine of their past 10 games against West Coast and will need to extend that impressive recent record if they are going to keep their finals chances alive.

After making the Grand Final last year, the Swans were one of the best backed sides heading into this season to win the premiership, but a heartbreaking and frustrating one point defeat to Collingwood has left Sydney one of three teams yet to record a victory this season.

The Swans are renowned for their toughness and their ability to win with their backs against the wall, and if brave punters stick with them they do get a chance to get on at odds we are simply not used to seeing about the champion side.

West Coast will be keen to bounce back after again disappointing performance in Melbourne.

West Coast though will always be better at home, even when they have been plagued by inconsistency they always improve at Domain Stadium and in 2016 went an impressive 11-2 and are 1-0 to start 2017.

These teams played once last season with Sydney recording a comfortable 39 point victory, but can we compare this current Swans side with the one we saw last season? Early signs clearly point to no.

It is hard to dive into the Swans with much confidence, but rarely are you given such generous odds about a side like them. The Swans will be competitive and if they can negate the Eagles midfield they will be a good show.

Backing Sydney with a 16.5 point at the line might be the play as the Swans will try and turn it into an arm wrestle and despite a lack of composure over the concluding stages against Collingwood last week, they have a potent forward line capable of capitalising on their opportunities.

Lance Franklin had a shocking game last week in the loss to Collingwood and needs to produce his best to get the Swans season back on track.

When they last played West Coast he had eight scoring shots, sadly that day he managed two goals, five behinds and an out on the full.

The positive is that he destroyed the Eagles defense and we like him to bounce back and kick three or more goals.

SYDNEY +16.5
