These two sides have combined just for just one win this season.

There is a saying that if you cannot say anything nice about something then don’t say anything at all. Using that logic makes discussing the clash between the Sydney Swans and Brisbane Lions extremely difficult.

These teams have combined for 12 straight losses, the Swans started favourite in the Grand Final, which they lost to the Western Bulldogs and have lost their first six games of the season. The Lions caused an upset in Round 1 against Gold Coast, but have looked horrible since losing their next five matches which includes copping hidings by 52 points against Richmond and 83 points against Port Adelaide in the last three weeks.

Sydney are the talking point though as they were one of the premiership favourites at the start of 2017 and now need to win just about every game to make the finals.

The Swans were very weak against Carlton in Round 6, this was a game they should have won by seven goals based on talent, but the team is simply not functioning.

For so long the Swans have been known for their fierce attack on the football and midfield depth. Last week they applied neither and Jake Lloyd was the only player to collect over 30 disposals (32).

The side have had too many players underperforming and subsequently swung the axe at the selection table.

For all the Swans faults this season, they are a proud football club and should strike back with force.

Sydney defeated Brisbane by just three points in their clash last season with Lance Franklin booting five goals and he needs to produce a big game to atone for a disappointing season.

Brisbane has a horrible record at the SCG winning just one game at the ground since Round 7 in 2003 and it will be another tough outing for the Lions.

If you anticipate that this win could launch the Swans into action this season they are $7 to make the finals with William Hill and Bet 365 and $101 to win the premiership with Crownbet, Luxbet and William Hill.

Lance Franklin kicked five goals the last time these two teams played and looks a safe bet to be the highest goal scorer.
