It is season over for the loser of this crucial clash.

It is hard to find positives for Collingwood and Hawthorn this season. Two of Victoria’s biggest clubs entered the season eyeing a premiership, but it is curtains for the loser with Hawthorn having won three games and Collingwood two.

Adding to the issues for the Hawks is the mounting injury list.

Cyril Rioli is the latest in brown and gold to be sidelined through injury and joins a host of key players including Grant Birchall, Jaeger O’Meara and Jack Fitzpatrick. Rioli is a huge loss as he applied huge forward line pressure and kicked three goals when these teams last played.

The Pies have been the definition of frustrating in 2017, recording two magnificent victories knocking off grand finalists Sydney at the SCG and inflicting Geelong with their first loss of the season.

They have also been horribly inconsistent and shown inability to convert their chances and close out a tight game.

Hawthorn have a great record against Collingwood having won nine straight against the Pies including a one point win in Round 23 at the MCG last year.

Plenty of experts are abandoning the Hawks, but we feel it is an overreaction and they look an appealing price to cause the upset.  The boys at bet365 have them at $2.55.

Hawthorn found a way to grind out victories against Melbourne and Brisbane in the past fortnight and although they are clearly not the side we saw win three straight premierships, they have lost none of their composure which will carry them to plenty of wins this season.

If you anticipate that either of these teams can finish the season strongly and force their way into finals contention the Hawks and Pies are $7.50 respectively (bet365).

A pen can be put through the loser and we are anticipating that loser will be Collingwood with the Hawks veterans leading them to a season salvaging win in a close contest.

When these teams played last Adam Treloar had a game high 36 disposals and looks a good bet in the possession markets. Have a few cheeky dollars on him in the Player To Have 35 Disposals or More market which is returning $3.40 @ Sportsbet.
