Can the Eagles finally soar in Victoria?
Arguably the most intriguing game of the weekend with the Bombers looking to validate a big win over Geelong and the West Coast Eagles desperate for a rare win in Victoria as they look to continue the form that has now put them into contention for a vital top two finish.
West Coast has had their struggles in Victoria this season. They were disappointing in losing to Richmond and Hawthorn but both those games were at the MCG and they are much better suited at Etihad Stadium where this is being played.
The Eagles defeated North Melbourne by 43 points at Etihad Stadium in Round 1 and they have won four of their last eight games at the ground, not a stunning record, but much better than when they play at the ‘G.
The Bombers have had somewhat of a yoyo season, but put in their best performance yet when upsetting premiership contender Geelong by 17 points at Etihad Stadium to keep their chances of a Cinderella return to the finals alive.
West Coast though is a genuine contender in 2017 and must overcome their Victorian hoodoo starting with a win over the Bombers here.
West Coast showed last week they can win a scrap by grinding it out over reigning premiers the Western Bulldogs with exciting youngster Elliott Yeo again instrumental.
Yeo was $501 in Brownlow Medal markets at the start of the season and some experts currently have him leading the count.
This should be a high scoring contest; both teams like to play attacking football and kick long to tall marking forwards. The Total Points market of 192.5 does not look high enough here so take the Overs ($1.91 @ bet365).
We are going with the Eagles to get the win and push their premiership claims. If you anticipate they can win the club’s fourth flag you can take the $9 a fourth flag in club history they are now $11 with Luxbet.
Josh Kennedy booted a game high seven goals when the Eagles last played at Etihad and he looks a good bet for the first and most goals.
WEST COAST UNDER 39.5
