Can North Melbourne maintain their recent momentum?

North Melbourne and Carlton are both unlikely to make the finals this season but both teams have given fans reason for optimism by playing exciting youngsters and causing some upsets along the way.

North claimed the scalp of the highly touted Melbourne Demons last week with an exciting 14-point win, while Carlton led for large portions of the game against Fremantle in Perth before eventually going down.

Blues skipper Marc Murphy was outstanding last week in the loss; he collected 32 disposals and looks a good bet to cover his line of 27.5 this week so we are happy to be on his overs in this one which looks a solid bet.

North Melbourne started the season terribly losing their first five games, however, responded by winning three of their past four and should carry on that run with a win here.

North turned Etihad into a fortress last season winning at the ground eight times while Carlton has struggled at the venue losing both games there this season and going 3-4 last year.

When the teams met last in Round 9 of the 2016 season the Kangaroos won by 67 points.

Ben Brown kicked three goals in that game and comes into this match full of confidence having slotted five majors against Melbourne last week.

Tough midfielder Ben Cunnington is huge overs for the Brownlow Medal at $251 with TAB and Luxbet.

While it might be a stretch to suggest he can win the medal; a smart play is to back him to win at those huge odds and then hope that he produces a big game against Carlton this week and then against Richmond next week and cash out the bet for a profit once he firms in the market.

If you anticipate the Kangaroos can make the finals this season they are $6 with Sportsbet, William Hill and Crownbet.

Ben Brown kicked five goals last week against Melbourne including the first of the game. Back him for the First and Most Goals.
