Collingwood should record a huge win and keep their season alive.

Last week Collingwood overhauled a 43-point deficit against Hawthorn to win by 18 points, saving coach and former club legend Nathan Buckley from a possible sacking. More importantly they kept their finals chances alive.

This week the Pies will inflict another heavy loss on the worst team in the competition - the Brisbane Lions.

Collingwood has been playing much better than their season record of three wins and six losses suggests and they can take another step in the right direction here.

The pleasing thing for Collingwood is that skipper Scott Pendlebury looks to have overcome niggling injuries; he racked up 36 touches last week against Hawthorn and almost certainly three Brownlow votes.

Brisbane is a lost cause.

The Lions caused an upset in Round 1 but have been nothing but an embarrassment since that point losing eight straight games and showing little resolve.

Last week they did try hard against Adelaide, but kicked poorly in front of goal and eventually lost by 80 points.

Brisbane has a horror recent record everywhere, but especially in Victoria.

Take out the game last season where Brisbane beat an Essendon Bombers squad missing most of their players, Brisbane has not won outside of Queensland in the past season and a half.

That is 13 losses and the number is about to get higher.

Collingwood is $81 to win the premiership with Crownbet; that might seem a stretch but they should easily beat Brisbane this week and with winnable games coming up against Fremantle, Melbourne, Port Adelaide at the MCG, Hawthorn, Essendon and the Gold Coast they can be right back in contention.

If Collingwood can maintain the form that they have shown in the past month they should win most of those games and in an open season they should scrape into the finals.

If you love or loathe Collingwood, we all love the $81 available should they win the flag.

Star Scott Pendlebury found form with 36 possessions last week and looks a good bet to gain 30 touches or more.
