A Hawthorn is going for two huge upsets in succession but can they do it?

Last week Hawthorn caused one of the shocks of the season in reversing some horrible recent form to skittle the Sydney Swans at the SCG by a goal.

The win took the Hawks to a season record of 4-6 and they are now just one game outside of the top eight, currently held by their Thursday night opponent Port Adelaide.

When these sides clashed last season the Hawks prevailed by 22 points in Round 16 at the Adelaide Oval; on that occasion both Cyril Rioli and Jack Gunston kicked three goals. With Rioli absent plenty of forward pressure will be placed on Gunston.

Hawthorn has a good record at the Adelaide Oval having won three of five games at the venue and despite the fact they kept their season alive with an upset win over Sydney last week we are not prepared to trust them just yet.

Port Adelaide was brave in defeat against Geelong last week, but they again failed to disprove the theory that they are flat track bullies.

The Power is yet to defeat a good team this season with their four losses coming against Adelaide, GWS, West Coast and Geelong.

Forward Charlie Dixon will be desperate for a big performance; he showed a lack of awareness in the dying stages last week against Geelong when he should have kicked the match winning goal. Look at him this week to boot the most goals.

Hawks recruit Tom Mitchell has been a shining light for Hawthorn this season, carrying on his great form with 31 touches last week against his former side Sydney after collecting 50 disposals against Collingwood the week before.

Stick with Port Adelaide to win this one and from a long term perspective the Power are now $1.20 to make the finals and $10 to win the premiership with bet365.

STATS BET

Tom Mitchell has had more disposals this season than any other player, racking up 50 against Collingwood a fortnight ago and 31 last week.

Again he looks a good bet for the most disposals. The $1.80 @ Sportsbet for 35 Disposals or More looks a lock.
