The Saints need to reverse a horrible hoodoo in South Australia.
St Kilda has been one of the most frustrating sides so far in 2017. After a quiet few seasons Saints supporters were hoping they could win the club’s second premiership this year and those hopes increased again after an upset win over Greater Western Sydney in Round 7.
Since that point things have gone from bad to worse for the Saints.
St Kilda was far from convincing defeating Carlton and then were comprehensively beaten by struggling Sydney and managed just 50 points against the Western Bulldogs.
As a result plenty of footy experts are now questioning the Saints legitimacy and they must turnaround a horrible record to keep their season alive.
St Kilda has lost six straight games against the Adelaide Crows and has never won at the Adelaide Oval in six previous attempts.
The last time these teams clashed Adelaide won 133 to 45 and it could be a similar result.
In the last win, the Adelaide big forwards ran rampant with Josh Jenkins and Taylor Walker combining for 10 goals with Matt Crouch racking up 38 disposals.
After winning their first six games this season the Crows have come back to the pack somewhat and were disappointing last week against Geelong.
Rory Sloane is the perfect barometer for Adelaide; when he is on song the team is a genuine premiership contender, however, stop him and stop the crows.
Last week Adelaide was well beaten by Geelong with Sloane having just 23 disposals and didn’t bother the scorers.
Look for Sloane to find plenty to the footy and put himself back in Brownlow Medal contention where he has lost favouritism ($8 @ bet365) and slipped behind Patrick Dangerfield and Dustin Martin.
Adelaide should have too much firepower at home and cover the 33.5 Line. Looking longer term and the Crows are $4.20 for the premiership.
Josh Jenkins kicked seven goals when the Crows last beat St Kilda and looks a good bet to bag three or more.
