Can the Swans continue their push towards the finals?
Sydney overcame a six-goal deficit against Richmond last week and in the process kept their season alive.
The Swans have now won back-to-back matches and five of their past six as they look to eradicate a horrible start to the season and get themselves back in the mix for a spot in the top eight.
The Swans were brilliant in the second half against Richmond last week in a true team performance. Not one Swans player had 27 or more disposals and Sam Reid was the only multiple goalscorer with two.
Highly paid forward Lance Franklin was a basically a non-factor in the game and he will be keen to bounce back with a big game. Franklin has a great record against Essendon throughout his career and is worth looking at to kick the first and most goals in the game.
The task will not be easy for the Swans though who come up against an Essendon side who recorded their most impressive performance of the season last week against Port Adelaide.
The Bombers started a clear betting outsider, but thumped Port by 70 points. There was so much to like about the performance from the Bombers.
Zach Merrett had a game high 38 disposals, Dyson Heppell had his best game since returning from his year-long suspension collecting 34 touches and kicking a goal.
Veterans Brendon Goddard and Jobe Watson also cracked the thirties with 31 and 30 respectively.
The talking point though was the key forward duo Cale Hooker and Joe Daniher who combined for nine goals. If those two can continue to gel like that the Bombers are a genuine finals contender.
Sydney is a team on the rise and they have won six straight games against the Bombers. While we anticipate this game will be a close contest, we are keen to be on the Swans to get the four points and keep their season alive with a win
Zach Merrett had 38 disposals when the Bombers played last and looks a good bet to gain the most.
