It is desperation time for the Bombers.

How will the Bombers respond after the most disappointing performance of any side in the competition all season last week?

In a game they must have penciled in for a healthy win against Brisbane they somehow lost by eight points and as a result their odds to make the finals blew from $1.90 to the $3.50 currently available with Crownbet.

Joe Daniher and Orazio Fantasia could be the difference this week as they look to stretch a depleted Collingwood defence.

Daniher was outstanding when the Bombers beat the Pies by 18 points in Round 5, winning the ANZAC Day medal for the best player on the field in the process. He booted three goals and took eight marks with Fantasia kicking a game high four goals.

Collingwood’s disappointing season had its final nail in the coffin last Sunday when losing to Hawthorn to ensure that the Pies will again be absent from September.

All season the Collingwood midfield has been the one shining light but it is the forward line that has been dysfunctional. Put simply, they are not up to AFL standard while the defence has been crippled by injury.

The midfield though showed last week it is now not firing either with not one Magpies player collecting 30 disposals.

Despite the fact it is their home ground, Collingwood has really struggled at the MCG this season winning just three of their 10 games at the venue with one of those wins coming against bottom placed Brisbane.

The Bombers on the other hand have produced their best footy at the ‘G with some impressive wins and have only lost two games at the ground.

There is no denying the Bombers let plenty of footy fans and punters down last week. The positive about that is we are taking an inflated price this week against Collingwood.

Joe Daniher kicked three goals when these sides met last and looks a good bet to boot the most.
