Could we be looking at a possible Grand Final preview?
After losing their first six games of the season the Sydney Swans enter the weekend inside the top eight.
A win over crosstown rivals Greater Western Sydney would almost ensure the Swans not only return to the finals again this season, but are a big chance at finishing in the top four.
GWS set an amazing record in the past fortnight becoming the first team in VFL/AFL history to draw consecutive matches. There are still big question marks over the Giants when it comes to close finishes.
They are brilliant when things are going well but have no counter defence when opposition clubs get on top.
We think this game will be a simple one to figure out. If it is played in a fast and open manner then the Giants will have too much foot speed and kicking penetration, however, if the Swans can turn it into a physical contest then they will worry them out of it again.
Sydney comes into this game full of confidence having won five straight matches and eight of their past nine. They also have a good record against the Giants having won four of their past seven against GWS.
This game will be a cracker and could go either way but from a punting perspective the value is clearly with the Sydney Swans ($2 @ Sportsbet, Topbetta, Unibet).
The sides met earlier in the season at the SCG with GWS prevailing by 42 points in Round 5.
While we are keen on the Swans to win this game, it should go down to the wire so there is a great betting opportunity backing either team winning by Under 15.5 points which also gives you the insurance of the draw.
After hitting $101 after Round 6 the Swans are now top odds of $9 at TAB to win the flag and will firm further with a victory.
Buddy Franklin kicked three goals when these sides met last and looks a good bet to kick the most.
