A mini final at the MCG.

Betting markets at the start of the season indicated that Melbourne nor Port Adelaide would be playing finals footy. The winner of this game will have basically locked in a finals spot, the loser will find themselves in a scrap just to make it.

If you fancy yourself to back the winner of this game then lock in the price on the side making the finals. Port Adelaide is $1.22 with Melbourne still $1.55.

Port Adelaide currently sits in fourth place on the ladder, yet amazingly they are yet to defeat a side that sits inside the top eight. We are anticipating that will change this week and the Power will announce themselves as a genuine premiership contender.

After starting the season $41 to win the flag the Power is now all the way into top odds of $9 with Ladbrokes to win the second flag since Port entered the AFL.

Melbourne has been outstanding at times this season but they have had a shocking run with injuries and last week when they lost by 46 points against Adelaide, it was the first serious sign that they have now started to take their toll.

Port Adelaide on the other hand has bounced back strongly since a shock loss at home to Richmond a fortnight ago. The Power caused an upset beating the Eagles in Perth before a dominant 70-point victory over North Melbourne last week.

The Power forward line is in dynamic form racking up 120 and 127 points in the past fortnight at a time of year when most teams are struggling to score.

Charlie Dixon booted a game high five goals against West Coast with Robbie Gray chiming in with three and then last week against North Melbourne, Gray kicked four goals with Dixon managing one.

These two should get plenty of opportunities at the MCG on Saturday and look a good betting prospect to snag three or more goals.
