Two young sides looking for a rare victory.
On paper there is very little to get excited about this game with Brisbane bottom of the ladder having won just three games for the season and the Blues just two spots above them in 16th place with five wins for the season.
Both sides have both made improvements for the season and are giving their supporters genuine cause for optimism.
These sides met in Round 21 at the GABBA last season with Brisbane prevailing by four points. Tom Rockliff was brilliant in that game collecting a game high 39 disposals and booting two goals and having 12 tackles.
Sadly for Rockliff and the Lions he is clearly struggling with a shoulder injury and last week against Richmond he had just 14 disposals, four tackles and failed to score.
Exciting forward Josh Schache looked good last week against Richmond kicking two goals and this could be a real breakout game for him and he represents good bet at big odds to kick the most goals.
Carlton is progressing nicely but they just cannot kick a winning score.
Their midfield is finding plenty of footy on the back of an excellent season from Bryce Gibbs and their defence is working well in tandem. They are a boring side to watch though and have lost their last four games due to their inability to hit the scoreboard.
In this losing streak they have only managed totals of 58, 77, 82 and 62 points.
They need to go out and find a key forward in the off-season as this is the reason they have not won an extra two or three games this season. In a tough way for punters to end the weekend, we are predicting the Brisbane Lions will cause the upset ($2.32 @ Palmerbet) and particularly like them at the line.
If you like Brisbane to win it, also looking at having something on North Melbourne at $8 in the Most Losses category because if Brisbane win it will put them equal with North Melbourne on 12 losses so the price on the Kangaroos looks extremely attractive.
Brisbane has won four of their past five matches against Carlton and can cause the upset.
