Can the Pies save Nathan Buckley with a win?

Both Adelaide and Collingwood come into this fixture on the back of some outstanding performances last week.

Adelaide shot clear at the top of the ladder with a dominant 21-point win over Geelong while Collingwood was trailing West Coast by 24 points entering red time before a stunning come from behind performance saw them register a morale boosting eight point win.

The Collingwood forward line, which has eluded the Pies for large parts of the season, finally clicked last week against West Coast with Jordan De Goey kicking four goals, Jamie Elliott three majors and Ben Reid chiming in with two.

The Pies midfield has been the one shining light this season and the two former GWS players Adam Treloar and Taylor Adams were again terrific last week collecting 36 and 26 possessions respectively. Both that duo will be key to this clash and look a good bet in the markets to gain 30 touches or more.

We are giving the Pies ($3.28 @ Topbetta) a chance to cause the upset.

Adelaide basically secured top spot last week with the win over Geelong and now travelling interstate without their exciting star Eddie Betts, who has had his appendix removed, the Crows might be ripe for the picking.

There is certainly no knocking the Crows on form though. Adelaide has won four straight games and four straight against the Magpies.

Adelaide is even unbeaten at the MCG this season having won both matches at the ground where they hope to be running out on grand final day.

For the Pies though they looked to be playing with a new lease on life last week in the final quarter and now that they can’t make the finals, watch them continue to play with that spirit.

A win here could ensure coach Nathan Buckley keeps his job.

Adam Treloar had a game high 35 disposals last week and we are again keen on him to gain the most. We also like the $2.88 @ Sportsbet for him to rack up 35 Disposals or more.
