The Bombers can clinch a finals berth with a win.
The premiership favourites Adelaide come into this contest unbeaten in their past six matches and sitting pretty on top of the ladder.
The Crows have a good recent record against most sides in the competition, but especially the Bombers, who they have won their past three games against including a 65-point demolition in Round 4 this season at the Adelaide Oval and an 82-point victory in Round 19 last season.
When the sides met earlier in the season the Crows forwards ran riot. Eddie Betts slotted six goals with Taylor Walker booting five. Four of their key midfielders Rory Laird (36), Rory Sloane (34) Brodie Smith (33) and Matt Crouch (31) got amongst the possessions in a stirring performance.
The Bombers kept their finals hopes alive with a narrow win last week against their struggling arch rivals Carlton.
It was not the Bombers most impressive performance of the season, but they showed grit and determination when they had to, and as a result they will take plenty of confidence coming up against the Crows this week.
Rising star forward Joe Daniher was uncharacteristically quiet last week against Carlton and will be keen for a big game this week, not only to help his side win the game, but also for his Coleman Medal chances where he holds a two-goal lead from the fast-finishing Josh Kennedy.
Essendon is $1.90 to make the finals with Sportsbet and should they cause the upset and defeat Adelaide it is almost impossible for them not to make it.
Next week the Bombers play the Gold Coast Suns in a game they should win comfortably and then they finish the season by hosting the Fremantle Dockers at Etihad Stadium.
We suggest having a bet on the Bombers at the line against Adelaide with the +20.5 appealing. Unibet have them @ $1.72.
