Pride is on the line with the Saints now out of finals contention.

Sadly for the supporters on both sides here they can only hope that their team can show face for the remainder of the regular season. North has been out of finals contention for a while but the Saints lasted up until last week but are now gone following a 24-point defeat to Melbourne.

The Saints were in a nice position to make the finals and firmed into as short as $1.65 to do so, but have lost form when it mattered and have dropped four of their past five matches.

It is hard to know how the Saints will react now that the finals dream is over. They may play with a lack of intensity, which has been the case from the Gold Coast Suns in the past month, or they might play with freedom with the shackles released.

North Melbourne has lost two straight games and nine of their past 10 after making the finals last season. They have been a big failure in 2017 and will be desperate to win at least one more game this season to avoid the wooden spoon. That might be this week against St Kilda or next week against the Brisbane Lions.

These two teams clashed in Round 13 at Etihad Stadium with the Saints winning a scrappy contest by 17 points.

Seb Ross and Ben Cunnington both collected 32 disposals and were both in the conversation for the Brownlow Medal before losing form in the second half of the season.

Nick Riewoldt failed to kick a goal when these teams clashed but in the second last game of his career, the St Kilda legend will be desperate to finish with some big performances and he could give North Melbourne some real headaches on Sunday.

In what is a tricky game to assess, it is worth having something on the Kangaroos at the line in the hope they can at very least be competitive.

STATS BET

The last game these teams played was low scoring so look at the under 185.5 in the total game score market.
