NORM SMITH MEDAL 2018
One of the most popular bet types on Grand Final Day is to have a bet on the Norm Smith Medal.
It can be a wonderful punting experience, like in 2017 when Dustin Martin was awarded the medal after punters backed him relentlessly throughout the course of the week, or it can be frustrating, like in 2016 when Sydney Swans midfielder Josh Kennedy was overlooked when clearly the best player on the ground.
Normally the winning side has the Norm Smith medal, not always, but most of the time.
The most recent Norm Smith medal winner in a losing side was Chris Judd back in 2005, so if you do want to invest on the Norm Smith firstly work out which team you think will be victorious.
Here are some of the players that we fancy:
STEELE SIDEBOTTOM: Steele Sidebottom has had an outstanding season and nearly won the Brownlow medal. One TAB punter had $1000 on him at $26 before the Magpies upset the Tigers and he is now favourite across the board.
ELLIOT YEO: The former Brisbane Lion has had an outstanding season and will launch must of the Eagles rebound off the halfback flank. He is an eye-catching player the way he runs with the ball and his penetrating kick and if the Eagles win and he gets lots of disposals he is the man to beat.
TRAVIS VARCOE: The former Cat has a history of producing his best on the big stage and if he can kick three or four goals it will not only go a long way towards helping the Magpies winning the game, but Varcoe claiming the Norm Smith.
BRAYDEN SIER: The 20 year-old Magpie only made his debut this year but could be the X-factor for Collingwood across half-forward and represents good value at triple figure odds.
