AFL Round 2: Richmond v Collingwood - Preview and Betting Tips
A rematch of last year’s amazing preliminary final which saw Richmond’s dominant season come to an end. Can they exact revenge over the winless Pies?
Richmond v Collingwood - MCG - 7:20 PM
Another blockbuster to kick off Round 2 as traditional rivals Richmond and Collingwood meet at the MCG. The Pies have lost six of their last eight against the Tigers, but have recent bragging rights after their brilliant 39-point win in last year’s preliminary final, Richmond’s only loss in Victoria for the season.
Richmond were opening-round winners but lost star defender Alex Rance to a likely season-ending ACL injury, which soured the victory in his 200th and teammate Jack Riewoldt’s 250th game. Collingwood squandered chances in front of goal early and ultimately paid for that, going down by seven points to the Cats on Friday night.
Collingwood face the reigning premiers next week and will be desperate to avoid entering that game 0-2, with only three teams in the last decade recovering to make finals after losing their opening two matches - including themselves last season.
