Carlton v Sydney - Marvel Stadium - 1:45 PM

Two teams seeking their first win of the season meet in a crucial Round 3 clash at Marvel Stadium on Saturday afternoon with Carlton playing host to Sydney.

You’d be forgiven if you thought the Blues had forgotten how to win, having lost 31 of their last 34 matches, but now find themselves in a very winnable contest at home against the struggling Swans. Sydney will fancy their chances of rebounding having won nine of their last 10 against the Blues and 10 of their last 11 in day matches at Marvel Stadium.

A low scoring contest is expected with neither team having kicked more than 12 goals in any of their opening two matches: Carlton have lost some firepower with Charlie Curnow injuring his knee against the Power last week, putting a big burden on Harry McKay to step up while Lance Franklin will again have to shoulder the load up forward for the Swans who are still searching for alternative avenues to goal.

Key Stat: Sydney has won nine of their last 10 matches against Carlton

Tip: Sydney

Best bet: Sydney -12.5 @ $1.92*

Value bet: Sydney to win by 40+ @ $4.33*

GWS v Richmond - Giants Stadium - 4:35pm

The Tigers all of a sudden have their tail between their legs coming off a big loss to the Pies as they travel to Sydney to take on the Giants in the Saturday twilight fixture as they will be without both Alex Rance and Jack Riewoldt for the first time in a decade. As has been the durability of their star players, Richmond is in uncharted territory and will also be missing another key defender in Dylan Grimes who was suspended for his hit on Jamie Elliott.

The two teams have played some absolute classics at the venue in recent years with the Giants coming off victorious by under a goal in the past two seasons. They will be looking to bounce back off a bad loss to the Eagles after never really being in the contest at Optus Stadium. While Richmond has lost a pair of stars, the Giants will welcome back Josh Kelly and Shane Mumford, as Toby Greene is forced to wait another week.

Tip: GWS

Best bet: GWS -7.5 @ $1.92*

Value bet: GWS to win by 40+ @ $4.60*
