AFL Round 12: Richmond v Geelong - Preview & Betting Tips
The battle of the felines sees Geelong looking to continue their dominance in 2019, while Richmond are looking to bounce back from last week’s disappointment.
The Cats are out to make it eight straight wins and keep their two-game advantage on top the AFL ladder when they face Richmond at the MCG on Friday night. It will be Geelong’s first trip to the home of football for five weeks, having previously won their three matches at the venue this season.
Richmond had won a record 22 straight matches at the MCG before last year’s preliminary final defeat at the hands of Collingwood and have won four of their five matches on their home ground this season, again falling to Collingwood in Round 2.
The Tigers have beaten the Cats in their last three encounters, all of which have been at the MCG, the last of which was a three-point victory in Round 20 last season. Since that win, the fortunes have been reversed for these teams with the Geelong sitting comfortably on top of the ladder, while Richmond are fighting to push their way into the top four.
The next fortnight will prove vital in shaping Richmond’s season who face the Crows at the Adelaide Oval after this encounter before their bye.
