AFL Round 12: Sydney v West Coast Previews & Betting Tips

With just three wins to their name, Sydney’s finals dreams look to be dashed, but they’ve been playing competitive football and will take it right up to the reigning premiers on their home deck.

Sydney v West Coast - SCG - 3:20pm

As we enter the second half of the season, Sydney’s season hangs by a thread. If they’re to keep it alive, they must defeat the West Coast Eagles at the SCG on Sunday.

The reigning premiers enter this match having won their last five straight and regained some of their 2018 form in the second half against the Bulldogs last week where they piled on 14 goals to record their highest score of the season. The previous high margin during their winning streak before last week’s 61-point victory was 23-points, highlighting how they’ve been finding ways to win without being dominant.

That dominance may need to return against a Swans outfit who have split their last four matches, with more than competitive performances against top four teams in Collingwood and Geelong in the last fortnight. They also hold a strong recent record over the Eagles, having won eight of their last 10 matches, including both in West Coast’s premiership season last year. The Eagles have lost their last eight at the SCG and have a 3-15 record at the venue, having last tasted victory in 1999. That looks likely to change on Sunday as they seek to further entrench themselves inside the top four with a 6th consecutive win.

Key Stat: Sydney has a 5-7 (41.7%) W/L record at the SCG after a loss from 2017 onwards.
