AFL Round 15: Saturday Match Previews & Betting Tips
The Hawks look to break out of their form slump with a meeting against the reigning premiers at the MCG, while the Suns will look to repeat their upset win against the Swans from last season and snap their long losing streak.
Hawthorn v West Coast - MCG - 1:45pm
Looking to solidify their position inside the top four, West Coast will travel to the site of its 2018 premiership triumph to tackle Hawthorn on Saturday afternoon.
The Eagles enter this fixture freshly removed from a dominant, albeit at times frustrating, 35-point victory over the Bombers which saw them finish with 20 more scoring shots than their opposition. Although a promising result, potentially more important was the return of Nic Naitanui through the WAFL last weekend. The star ruckman is expected to make his return to AFL level on Saturday.
A player who definitely won’t lineup is three time All Australian defender Jeremey McGovern as he serves a one-week suspension for rough conduct, despite challenging the ruling. However, they may get a like for like inclusion with premiership defender Tom Barass in line for his first match since Round 4. Barass’ inclusion may not be that crucial against
Hawthorn’s 14th-ranked attack. The Hawks’ forward setup has been especially ineffective across the last three weeks, averaging just 68.7 points en route to three losses.
Key Stat: West Coast have won its last six matches in Melbourne by a margin of 1-39

Sydney v Gold Coast - SCG - 4:35pm
In search of its fifth win from seven matches, Sydney will welcome Gold Coast to the SCG on Saturday afternoon.
For the Swans, not only will this fixture give them the chance to continue resurrecting their 2019 campaign, it also provides an opportunity for redemption from a shock 24-point loss to the Suns at this venue last season. That victory marked Gold Coast’s first ever against Sydney and snapped what had been an 11-match losing streak.
This time around it could prove to be a similar story given the Suns are now winless in nine after most recently falling by four-points to the Saints in Townsville prior to their Round 14 bye. That marked their sixth contest this season decided by under a goal, three of which have resulted in victory.
Sydney’s most recent outing ended in a 19-point triumph over Hawthorn, however, the win came at a major cost with Lance Franklin ruled out due to a recurrence of his hamstring injury on the eve of what would have been his 300th AFL match.
Key Stat: Gold Coast has failed to cover the line in each of its last six Saturday matches after a bye.
Best bet: Sydney 40+Value bet: Tom Papley First Goalscorer
