Adelaide v Essendon - Adelaide Oval - 7:50pm

The race to September heats up on Friday night when 7th placed Adelaide hosts 8th placed Essendon at the Adelaide Oval. Only percentage separates these two clubs, with a sizeable portion of that gap coming as a result of the Crows’ most recent 95-point demolition of the Suns at Metricon Stadium.

Essendon was also victorious during Round 17, albeit in far more dramatic circumstances, with Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti putting through an unbelievable match-winning goal in the dying seconds against North Melbourne.

That five-point victory moved the Bombers to 5-1 in their last six outings, with their last three wins all coming by less than 10 points, however, they will need to overcome an underwhelming 0-3 interstate record during 2019 in order to continue that winning form.

The Bombers also hold a dismal record at this venue against the Crows, losing the only two such previous meetings by a combined margin of 147 points, but did defeat Adelaide in their most recent meeting back in Round 1 last season by 12-points.

Key Stat: Nine of Adelaide's last 10 Friday night matches at the Adelaide Oval have gone UNDER the total match points line.

Tip: Adelaide

Best bet: Under 158.5 total match points

Value bet: Adelaide -14.5/Under 158.5
