AFL Round 18: Saturday Night Match Previews & Betting Tips
Brisbane can potentially jump to 2nd on the ladder with victory over the Kangaroos while the Dockers must defeat the Swans to keep their September hopes alive.
Brisbane v North Melbourne - Gabba - 7:25pm
Looking to consolidate its position within the top four, Brisbane will attempt to defeat North Melbourne for the second time this season when they meet at the Gabba on Saturday night. Across the last two weeks, the Lions have proven they are the real deal in 2019, downing both the Giants (94-74) and Power (97-49) away from home.
Brisbane was able to topple North Melbourne in similar circumstances earlier this season at Marvel Stadium, however, much has changed for the blue and white since that Round 2 encounter.
The Roos have proved themselves to be one of the most in-form lineups in the competition across the past eight rounds and if not for a last-ditch Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti goal last weekend, would have moved to 6-1 throughout that stretch.
Of those seven matches three have come interstate, indicating North Melbourne’s form may be transferable to a venue where Brisbane holds a commanding 6-1 record in 2019 with their only loss at home coming against Collingwood.
Key Stat: North Melbourne has covered the line in each of its last four matches against Brisbane at the Gabba.
Best bet: Brisbane 1-39

Fremantle v Sydney - Optus Stadium - 8:10pm
Both teams head into this fixture in the midst of form slumps as Fremantle and Sydney meet on Saturday night Optus Stadium in a desperate attempt to keep their season alive.
While Sydney look resigned to missing finals for the first time in a decade, the Dockers’ are still in the hunt with an extra win on the board, however they must snap their four-game losing streak this week after falling by 31-points to Hawthorn – the third bottom-10 side they’ve lost to during that stretch.
Elsewhere, Sydney was beaten by seven-points by a resurgent Carlton side at the SCG last weekend, adding to the club’s loss to Essendon the week before. Furthermore, the Dockers have been anything but competitive against the Swans in recent times, losing each of their last three meetings by an average margin of 84.3 points.
With that being said, the Swans have struggled in interstate matches this season, losing five of their seven such fixtures. Additionally, the Swans have only defeated the Dockers twice in Perth this millennium. Sitting two wins outside the top eight, nothing but victory will do for Fremantle.
Key Stat: Fremantle has won 27 of its last 29 Saturday matches as a home favourite.
Best bet: Fremantle 1-39
Value bet: Fremantle -7.5/Under 147.5
