In what is a blockbuster Round 22, the Friday night fixture fails to live up to that billing but it features two teams desperate for a win.

Melbourne v Sydney - MCG - 7:50pm

In what shapes as a dour Friday night affair at the MCG, Melbourne and Sydney will go in search of a morale-boosting win as both clubs try and snap long losing streaks.

Neither of these sides was successful during Round 21, with the Demons falling by 17-points to the Magpies in a rain-soaked match at this venue, their 5th straight loss, while the Swans were comprehensively beaten by 47-points by the Power in similar conditions at the Adelaide Oval, their 6th consecutive defeat.

The Swans will again be without Lance Franklin on Friday night after he was ruled out for the eighth consecutive match with a hamstring issue. Franklin holds an incredible 15-1 W/L record against Melbourne in his illustrious career, indicating his absence, coupled with Sydney’s underwhelming 2-8 mark as an away side in 2019, could make it difficult for the Swans.

However, Melbourne is 2-8 as a home side in 2019 and have largely looked like a team looking for the completion of the season and seem to be a false favourite in this one.

Key Stat: The underdog has won seven of Sydney's last eight-night matches at the MCG.

Tip: Sydney

Best bet: Sydney +2.5
