Geelong v West Coast - MCG - 7:50pm

Coming off yet another September disappointment, Geelong will attempt to bounce back and eliminate the reigning premiers on Friday night. Due to last Friday’s 61-51 defeat to Collingwood, the Cats have now lost 10 of their past 13 finals. As recently as 2014, the Cats bowed out of September in straight sets and will be looking to avoid being the first minor premier since 1983 to suffer the unwanted feat. Comparatively, West Coast has now won four straight finals after dominating Essendon 116-61 at home to add to its 2018 Premiership triumph.

These teams have met once in 2019, resulting in a convincing 58-point Geelong victory at GMHBA Stadium during April. However, it remains to be seen whether the Eagles harbour any scars from that result when considering it took place at a venue where they have not won since 2006, whereas they hold a 5-1 record from their last six matches at the MCG. Additionally, West Coast has won three of its previous four matches against Geelong at the home of football, all of which occurred during the finals.

Key Stat: 13 of West Coast’s last 14 matches have gone OVER the goal match points line.
