Brisbane v GWS - Gabba - 7:25pm

Each looking to keep their September dreams alive, Brisbane and GWS will battle for the right to face Collingwood in a preliminary final at the MCG next week. The Giants will make the trip to the Gabba brimming with confidence after demolishing the Bulldogs by a 58-points, a near 20-goal turnaround from their last meeting against the same opponent a three weeks earlier. GWS brought the heat during that encounter, with the Dogs’ relatively inexperienced September lineup unable to handle the intense pressure.

Sporting 14 finals debutants, the Lions found themselves in a similar position when they hosted the Tigers last weekend, as they were unable to capitalise on a fast start and eventually succumbed to the pressure, falling 112-65 despite recording three more scoring shots than their opponents. Nevertheless, Brisbane should be better for the run and is likely to enter this encounter with its confidence still high having defeated GWS by 20-points at GIANTS Stadium in their only meeting this season. Further enhancing the Lions’ chances will be their 9-0 record as home favourites this season.
