Although the 2018/19 NBA season is yet to tip off, we couldn't help but get the crystal ball out and look ahead at who could claim Awards at the end of the seaon.
Anthony Davis from the Pelicans ($6). He was huge last year averaging a double/double (28.1 points and 11.1 rebounds). With Cousins leaving the Pelicans, I think this will help elevate Davis to new heights.
His biggest danger could be a healthy Kyrie Irving ($31) who is expected to lead the Celtics back to conference finals this season.
Interesting draft this year with four of the top seven drafted as Centres. On early indicators for the Rookie of the Year, Kevin Knox ($10) from New York is favourite. He has great size, can find multiple ways to score and is effective in defence. He’ll get plenty of opportunity and time to develop at the Knicks and can only see him getting better with the more game time he gets.
Returning from injury, we are keen to see Gordon Hayward back in the Celtics line up. The Celtics are a huge chance to take out the Eastern Conference and this will be somewhat dependent on the return of Hayward.
The former Rookie of the Year (2014), Michael Carter-Williams has failed to find continuity with clubs having been traded to his fifth, the Houston Rockets. He has immense talent and if he can stay fit and healthy, he can be one of the trades of the season to help the Rockets go far in the playoffs. Playing behind Paul and Harden, he will hopefully develop into a consistent performer for the Rockets.
