OKC Thunder @ Denver Nuggets
It’s 1st and 3rd in the Western Conference as the Nuggets play host to the Thunder. The Nuggets have had three days off since their last game and it’s been much needed as they battle injuries to six key players.
They added some roster depth by signing the enigmatic and NBA Championship winning Nick Young. Paul Millsap, Will Barton and Gary Harris are all sidelined for extensive periods, while Jamal Murray continues to play through ailment. Relatively unknown sophomore Monte Morris tied a career-high with 20 points to help the Nuggets to victory over the Grizzlies to go along with Nikola Jokic’s 27 points and 12 rebounds.
The Thunder have had two close losses in their past three but had won six of their past seven before that to surge up the standings after a 0-4 start. Russell Westbrook has taken a back seat to Paul George in terms of the number one scoring option and its paid dividends for a team who look a legitimate NBA Finals contender behind their two (potentially three) All-Stars and a strong defence.
The Thunder are favourites despite this being their 5th road game in their last six and Denver’s strong home record (10-3). Give me the Nuggets with the start.
