We've gone through all our tips to give you the five best bets you should be placing or using as multi-fillers this weekend.
Horse Racing – Rosehill Race 6
Saturday 3:50PM – Expressway Stakes (1200 Metres)
Why: She has returned in fine order going on her 1.5 length victory at Randwick in the Christmas Classic first-up. Has been kept fresh with a solid trial on this track and will be the one flashing home in the small field. Has the form and usually performs well second-up. Top pick.
Horse Racing – Caulfield Race 8
4:50PM – Ladbrokes Manfred Stakes (1200 Metres)
Tip: Poised to Strike
Why: finished powerfully last start at Flemington to score nicely and shapes as a major player here. Has an excellent record over the distance (3:2-1-0) and drawn to get the run of the race behind the speed.
A-League – Central Coast Mariners v Melbourne Victory
While Melbourne Victory is proving they are real contenders to go back-to-back, they’ve had a very successful month of football, without marquee Keisuke Honda. Here’s what you need to know – Mariners: no clean sheets recorded this campaign, most goals conceded, least shots on target and worst passing accuracy in the league, so it’s no wonder they are bottom of the table.
Tip: Ola Toivonen First Goal Scorer
Why: Ola Toivonen needs little introduction with the Swedish international having found 10 goals and three assists in 13 games. He is in great form, scored a cracker of a free kick against Sydney FC and is difficult to overlook opening the scoring in Gosford.
BBL – Sydney Sixers v Sydney Thunder
Tip: Sydney Sixers
Why: Since their trouncing at the SCG by the Renegades, the Sixers have hit back with three straight wins in dominant fashion to almost seal their finals berth. Winning this fixture would do that as well as putting them in the box sea to host a semi-final for the first time since the 2013/14 season. Each of their top five batsmen have all made scores of 40+ in those three matches and all of a sudden look like a team capable of setting and chasing down big totals.
Super Bowl LIII – Los Angeles Rams v New England Patriots
Tip: Rob Gronkowski to score a touchdown
Why: The Conference Championship victory over the Chiefs showed that despite a poor season, Gronk is far from washed. He had 11 targets, a season-high, and was relied upon whenever Brady needs somebody to push the chains forward. That increased usage pointed towards the Gronk of old, as did his post-game video with Tom Brady, where he looked relaxed and supremely confident.
