This Weekend's 5 Best Bets
This weekend's best bets cover the NRL, AFL and Premier League.
NRL – Wests Tigers v Gold Coast Titans
The Tip: Titans
Why: Gold Coast have a 5-1 record against the Tigers in their last six matches. The Titans are showing signs of a confident side. They scored more points against the Knights than they did in their opening month and players like Tyrone Peachey are starting to find their footing.
AFL – Sydney v GWS
The Tip: GWS
Why: The Swans are ranked 16th for average points scored this season. Despite their loss last week, the Giants will be backed in to rediscover the form which has seen them overcome the Tigers and Bombers by a combined margin of 237-116 from their two matches in Sydney this season.
Premier League – Spurs v West Ham
The Tip: Spurs to win to nil
Why: The Hammers have been comfortably safe from relegation for a long time, meaning their one point and two goals from their last eight away games has gone totally under the radar. Spurs are yet to concede at their new stadium, and I don’t imagine this misfiring (on the road at least) West Ham outfit will change that.
NRL – Manly Sea Eagles v Canberra Raiders
The Tip: Jordan Rapana to score a try
Why: Without Tom Trbojevic, Manly have arguably the worst outside backs in the comp and I expect the Raiders to take full advantage. Jordan Rapana has seven tries in eight games against Manly.
AFL – Hawthorn v Carlton
The Tip: Hawthorn 1-39
Why: Hawthorn has owned the rivalry in recent years, winning 15 of the last 16, with seven of those being by over 50 points. This one will certainly be a lot closer than that with a buoyant Blues outfit determined to build off their breakthrough victory.
