This Weekend's 5 Best Bets: 1st - 2nd June
This weekend's best bets cover harness racing, the Cricket World Cup, Champions League Final, boxing and AFL.
Harness Racing – Addington Race 4
Saturday 12:03pm (AEST)
The Tip: One Change
Why: One Change is unbeaten in 4 starts and looks like another champion on the horizon. All his wins have been over this course and distance and three times Flying Even Bettor has been the runner-up.
Harness Jewels Race Card & Tips
Cricket World Cup – Afghanistan v Australia
The Tip: Steve Smith Top Australian Batsman
Why: Steve Smith is the most in-form Aussie batsman and if there are early wickets then the former skipper becomes intriguing value to continue his hot streak.
Football – UEFA Champions League Final: Liverpool v Tottenham
The Tip: Both teams to score
Why: Both sides have found the net in 7 of Spurs and Liverpool’s last 8 meetings, and it’s clear they know an awful lot about each other; I can’t imagine either manager will adopt an overly-cautious, feel-each-other-out approach.
Boxing – Anthony Joshua v Andy Ruiz Jr
The Tip: Joshua by KO
Why: Joshua’s size and power will be too much for Ruiz. Whether Joshua chooses to tie up Ruiz and bully him, or cover up and trade on the inside, it is hard to see Ruiz having the physical attributes to worry the big world champion.
AJ will be looking to make a statement and Ruiz’s conditioning suggests he may stay down once hitting the canvas.
AFL – West Coast v Western Bulldogs
The Tip: West Coast 1-39
Why: The Bulldogs look for their first victory over the Eagles since their famous elimination final win in 2016 at Subiaco. West Coast has a 27-11 W/L record as a home team in day matches from 2013 onwards.
