This Weekend's 5 Best Bets: 27th - 28th July
This weekend's 5 best bets cover the NRL, AFL, UFC 240 and the Rugby Championship.
NRL – Parramatta Eels v New Zealand Warriors
The Tip: Eels
Why: Last week’s 36-24 loss to Manly was a flattering scoreline for Parra who comfortably beaten by Tom Turbo’s brilliance. Despite that, Parra are a completely different team at Bankwest, boasting an imposing 5-1 record there, with their smallest win margin being 12 points.
AFL – West Coast v North Melbourne Kangaroos
The Tip: West Coast
Why: Looking to consolidate their position in the top 4, West Coast will enter this game full of confidence having lost just once to the Kangaroos in Perth since 2010. West Coast has won each of its last 10 Saturday home matches.
Rugby Championship – Australia v Argentina
The Tip: Argentina +4
Why: After pushing the All Blacks all the way last weekend, expect the Pumas to enter this clash full of confidence. The Pumas beat the Wallabies on the Gold Coast 23-19 last year and it wouldn’t surprise if they won at Brisbane on Saturday night.
UFC 240 – Max Holloway v Frankie Edgar
The Tip: Holloway by KO or TKO
Why: Holloway returns after his 13-fight win streak was broken after attempting to go up in weight against Dustin Poirier. Holloway returns to his preferred weight and will be highly motivated against Edgar who gets his third and probably last chance at winning the UFC Featherweight Championship.
Expect Holloway’s impeccable defence, versatile style and stamina to overcome Edgar’s high-volume attack.
AFL – Sydney Swans v Geelong Cats
The Tip: Geelong
Why: Expect Geelong to break out of their indifferent form against a Swans side only playing for pride. The Swans have struggled for goals all season and while Geelong’s offensive output has dried up lately too, the Cats should be too good here.
