NFL – Pittsburgh Steelers @ Houston Texans
Pittsburgh Steelers -9.5 - $1.95
The Steelers somehow threw away a victory over the Patriots last week and will be without star receiver Antonio Brown in this one. Texans have lost their last four and all by decent margins, culminating in last week’s 45-7 defeat to Jacksonville.
Pittsburgh are still going to put up large numbers without Brown and the Texans are truly terrible right now so a handicap of 9.5 should be low enough for the Steelers to cover.
Cricket - 4th Ashes Test – Australia vs. England
Steve Smith Runs - 1st Innings - Smith Over 47.5 Runs - $2.00
After a career best 239 in Perth, Steve Smith’s numbers continue to soar. The right-hand bat now averages 62.31 in the long format of the game and has racked up an incredible 22 centuries in 59 Tests. Smith has looked invincible at the crease this series and his scores of 239, 40, 6 and 139 reflect his dominance of the English attack.
NBA – Houston Rockets @ Oklahoma City Thunder
Oklahoma City Thunder +4.5 - $1.64
The rivalry continues as last year’s MVP candidates Russell Westbrook and James Harden go head to head.
Harden’s Rockets are currently leading the West with a tremendous record. What we have seen though is that the Thunder are more than capable of knocking off big competition as they’ve done against the Spurs, Wolves, Warriors and Nuggets who are all in the top 8 of their conference.
Look for Westbrook and PG13 to go balls to the wall in this one and surprise the Rockets in their own arena.
Randwick Race 7 – Spinal Care Racing4Research Sprint - 1200m.
Montreal - $2.20
He got the job done with consummate ease first-up when he was also our best bet and flogged them without been asked to do too much. Now second-up to 1200m he is much better suited than over the 1000m fresh. He has the upside that basically all in this field do not, and if he hasn’t gone backwards from the fresh run. We're looking at a gap job.
English Premier League – Tottenham v Southampton
Under 2.5 Goals $2.21
The Saints remain a low-scoring side on their travels as they’ve failed to score more than once in any of their eight road trips, with five seeing Under 2.5 Goals. Six of Spurs’ last eight at Wembley have also seen fewer than three strikes with the two exceptions against dodgy rear-guards in Liverpool and Stoke – who respectively hold the fourth worst and worst away defensive records in the division.
