Only three teams remain unbeaten at this early stage of the Big Bash season, and two of them meet tonight. The Scorchers and Renegades have both been impressive in their opening two fixtures with the Perth side beating the Sixers and Stars whilst Melbourne has accounted for the Heat and Hurricanes. Although the home side start favourite, the Renegades have never beaten their western rival (six games) and an upset could be on the cards.
In the Scorchers last five Big Bash games, their final score in each match has been between 135 and 144.
T20 run machine Brad Hodge is incredible value as he pushes out beyond the $7.50 mark. Although the veteran has plenty of batting above him, he is well worth considering at the odds given he hasn’t lost his wicket in the BBL this year (25* and 9*) and hasn’t been dismissed in single figures across his last 10 Big Bash matches. For the Scorchers, it may well be worth having a nibble at the juicy $5 odds on former Test player Hilton Cartright.
Key stat: In eight matches against the Scorchers, Brad Hodge averages 68.25 at a strike-rate of 150.
Scorchers to win and Brad Hodge to be the Renegades' top scorer.
