Sydney Thunder v Hobart Hurricanes Preview & Betting Tips

Will the Thunder's spinners prove too much to handle once again for the Hurricane side eager to get off the foot of the ladder?

Head to Head

A scheduling quirk pits the Thunder up against the Hurricanes just two days after these sides met in Launceston. The Sydney outfit prevailed by 53 runs in that clash which extended their winning streak over the Hurricanes to two games. However, Hobart has the far superior overall head to head record (5-2) between the teams and has never been beaten at Spotless by the men in green. Although Sydney start favourite, expectations are that Hobart will rebound from their loss strongly and the juicy $2.30 odds are well worth considering.

Key stat: The Thunder average a team total of 134 across their seven games against Hobart.

High Bat

Jos Buttler claimed Man of the Match honours against the Hurricanes for his impressive 67 off 41 balls and he’ll be heavily backed to once again be their top scorer. However, the value on the Thunder’s middle order guns can’t be ignored with Callum Ferguson at $7.50 a very tempting proposition. Ferguson remained unbeaten in Launceston which took his recent run of scores to 24*, 37, 45, 59, 0, 94, 33, 88, 4 and 182 (all competitions). For the Hurricanes, George Bailey should be forgiven for his 6-ball 3 on Saturday night currently sits a generous $4.50.

Key stat: George Bailey banked at least one 70+ score in his last three Sheffield Shield games.

Hurricanes to upset the Thunder.
