There will be plenty snapping up the very generous $1.90 odds currently available on the Perth Scorchers to beat the Thunder at Spotless tonight. In all matches against the Thunder, the Western Australian unit won by 50 runs when the sides last met and has only ever lost once to the men in green. Although the Thunder can’t be ruled out of contention, especially with the return of Usman Khawaja to their line up, Justin Langer’s team are 5-1 in this year’s competition and appear on track to make the semis once again.
Key stat: The Thunder has never beaten the Scorchers in Sydney
Former Test player Hilton Cartright has already posted three double figure scores this BBL season including a 58 against the Melbourne Stars on Boxing Day. Although the allrounder is often overshadowed by Michael Klinger and Adam Voges, he possesses a reasonable T20 average of 21.07 and the juicy $5.50 price is something well worth considering. For the home side, Usman Khawaja is tough to look past. Fresh from a big New Year’s Test century, the elegant left-hand bat is in-form and firing.
Key stat: Usman Khawaja’s last four Big Bash scores are 109, 62, 104 and 70.
