The Strikers host the red-hot Hurricanes tonight in a match that could be a potential semi-final preview. Currently on a five-match win-streak which includes the scalp of Adelaide on Jan 4, the Canes are playing some dominant cricket. In each of their last five matches they have posted 160+ runs for the loss of no more than six wickets. In that respect, it is hard not to be tempted by the very juicy $2.10 being offered for the Hobart side. Although the Strikers’ overall record against the Tassie team is a good one, especially at home (3-1), they enter this on a big loss to the Scorchers in which they failed to reach 120 with the bat.
Key stat: In their four meetings at the Adelaide Oval, the Hurricanes average 153 runs per innings.
D’Arcy Short is arguably the form batsman of the competition and enters this match with scores of 59, 122*, 42, 96, 97, 15 and 34 across his last seven innings. His run spree has elevated the left-hand bat to the top of the all-time run scorer’s list in a single BBL season and thrown his name up in lights for Australian selection. The $3.25 currently available on the Northern Territory product is well worth considering. For the Strikers, Colin Ingram may be the man to back given he has only be dismissed in single figures once this season.
