Head to Head

Are we about to watch a grand final preview? 1st takes on 2nd today when the Scorchers and Strikers meet at the WACA. With both clubs locked on 14 points, the winner of this fixture will claim the minor premiership and guarantee a home final if they triumph in their semi. With an unbeaten record at the Furnace this season, Perth start the $1.80 favourite with their rival out to $2.20. Although Adelaide do have claims here, they did struggle against their western rival when the sides met in Alice Springs on January 13, ultimately losing the match by six wickets. The Strikers’ task will also not be made easier by the fact star bat Travis Head will be unavailable due to his selection in the Australian one-day team.

Key stat: The Scorchers finished minor premiers in BBL|05 and BBL|06.

High Bat

Since returning from the Test set-up, Cameron Bancroft has been in good form, posting scores of 75*, 15 and 54 across three innings. The Scorchers will also be wary of the fact that Bancroft has a distinct liking for the Perth surface as he demonstrated in late November when he posted an unbeaten 228 for WA. For the Strikers, Alex Carey will once again be popular with punters, however, it may be worth considering the $3.75 odds on Colin Ingram. The South African impressed with a 36-ball 68 in his last game which was his 7th score in double figures this season.

Key stat: In 2018 Colin Ingram averages 51 (six innings)
