Perth Scorchers vs Hobart Hurricanes Betting Preview and Tips
Will the Scorchers red-hot form take them to a 5th straight BBL grand final?
Head to Head
Big Bash finals time has arrived with the Scorchers and Hurricanes kicking things off at the new Perth Stadium tonight. Given Hobart’s poor record at the WACA (1-3), they are sure to have welcomed the news that the game would be played across the river and away from the bouncy deck that has been behind so much of the Scorchers’ success in recent years. However, Perth still start the overwhelming $1.55 favourite and with an overall record of 6-2 against this opposition, which includes a victory in the ast meeting between the teams, they are unlikely to be phased by the choice of ground. In terms of recent form, Justin Langer’s side go into this match with three consecutive wins whilst the Canes have lost their past three.
Key stat: In three of their past five victories over Hobart, the margin has been five to seven wickets / 21 to 40 runs.
Hobart will be without BBL|07 batting sensation D’Arcy Short who will miss the game due to international commitments. That leaves wicketkeeping pair Tim Paine and Matt Wade on the top two lines of betting with George Bailey just behind on $4.50. Of the trio, Tim Paine may be the man to back given he has the most runs of any player in matches contested between these teams (171 at an average of 34.20). Furthermore, the right-hand bat has scored 25+ runs in five of his last six innings (all competitions). For the home side, Test stars Shaun Marsh and Cameron Bancroft are the early favourites, however, Mitch Marsh may be the man to back given his impressive form of late and the fact he’s one of the few players in this game to have spent time at the crease inside the stadium.
Key stat: Mitch Marsh has scored 13, 32, 55, 36, 50 and 101 across his past six innings.
Tip: Scorchers to win with Mitch Marsh to be their High Bat
