A-League Rd 15 Best Bets & Multis
Midweek action hits the A-league as times are getting desperate for some sides.
Melbourne City vs. Western Sydney Wanderers – Tuesday 7:50pm – AAMI Park
Everything here suggests that City will get back to winning ways.
Warren Joyce’s side were upset by the Mariners last week before restoring some pride with a 0-0 draw against ladder leaders Perth and this game looks ripe for them to take the three points.
City are unbeaten in their past four games against the Wanderers who are facing a sixth straight defeat. A loss here would equal their worst ever skid in club history.
That said there are only 13 games left of the regular season and the Wanderers need to start moving if they are to catch the top six. Currently, they sit 13 points behind Adelaide who occupy the last finals spot.
There is plenty of motivation for Markus Babbel’s side so we’re banking on a share of the points.
Wellington vs. Sydney FC – Wednesday 5:35pm (AEDT) – Westpac Stadium
Two of the league’s best strikers go head-to-head in this one and we are banking on goals – and plenty of them!
Phoenix star Roy Krishna and Sydney FC’s Adam Le Fondre lead the A-league scoring chart with 11 apiece, however, it is the former that has been on fire of late with doubles at his past three matches.
Wellington are riding a club record nine-game unbeaten run and totally outplayed Sydney FC at Kogarah earlier in the season when running out 3-1 winners. Sydney have gathered themselves since then and considering both sides will be a little fatigued after the fixture congestion of the Summer of Heroes, we are tipping a draw in this one.
Tip: Roy Krishna to Score
Newcastle Jets vs. Central Coast Mariners – Wednesday 7:50pm – McDonald Jones Stadium
The F3 Derby is the second leg of Wednesday’s triple treat and we are in for a great game.
The Mariners have picked up four points in their past two games which is huge considering they had only picked up two points for the entire season prior to that.
After knocking off Melbourne City for their first win of 2018/19, Central Coast were desperately unlucky not to pick up another three points against Brisbane in a 1-1 draw.
They are in form and the Jets aren’t. Both sides are sitting way outside the top six and nothing seems to be going right.
The Jets have won the Derby the past four times but an interesting stat is that six of the past seven matches at this venue have ended in a draw. In what should be a tough round, we are tipping another share of the spoils.
Perth Glory vs. Adelaide United – Wednesday 10:00pm (AEDT) – HBF Park
League leaders Perth will look towards striker Andy Keogh to grab another three points in this match.
They were held to a 0-0 draw last game against Melbourne City which is the first time they have failed to trouble the scorer this season.
Keogh loves playing against Adelaide and has bagged goals in six of seven matches against the Reds. On top of that, he has eight for this term and four of those have come in his past five matches.
So far, only Sydney FC have managed to beat Perth and that was in the west. Adelaide were lucky to beat the Wanderers in Sydney last week and with the extra travel associated with this one, we are banking on Perth for the win.
Tip: Perth (Win)
