Doomben is backing up from Saturday with the rail out to 6.5 metres for the entire course after being 4.5 metres on Saturday. Doomben has taken a battering in the past two years having doubled up for Eagle Farm during its closure but it has held up well and the style of racing is set. The front runners seem to have the advantage early and the backmarkers can win late in the day.

R1 12.02pm Three-Year-Old Maiden 1200m
Not a bad race for a Wednesday maiden with ISN'T HE BRILLIANT good at his only start. He showed a lot of pace and he will have been improved and should be in the finish here.
ROCK ON DESTINY was third behind second placed Isn't He Brilliant at his only start. It was the run of the race because he came from a mile back after being slow away. Looks the obvious danger with experience under his belt here.
CARO CAVALLO was just okay at first race start at Eagle Farm last week but this track will suit better and he has some pace.
FIVE STUD POKER is bred to stay but he has had two trials this time in and placed in both. He could be the danger from an in form stable at his first start.
SELECTIONS: NO3 ISN’T HE BRILLIANT, NO4 ROCK ON DESTINY, NO6 CARO CAVALLO, NO2 FIVE STUD POKER.
VALUE RUNNER: NO2 FIVE STUD POKER.
R2 12.37pm Maiden Handicap 1350m
DOUBT DEFYING was well backed at big odds last week and just failed to get the winner on the line. The 1350m around Doomben should suit.
IRISH BANDIT will be a lot fitter for his first up fourth here two weeks back. He had some handy Victorian form before coming north and this suits.
CONCA DEL SOGNO was much better at second race start last time. The 1350m should suit.
Believe it or not LUJAC was once a second acceptor for the Golden Slipper and he had some good early form. Recent efforts have been average at best but he will be big odds here and might run a better race on this track where he has been placed twice in three goes.
SELECTIONS: NO3 DOUBT DEFYING, NO1 IRISH BANDIT, NO2 CONCA DEL SOGNO, NO8 LUJAC.
VALUE RUNNER: NO8 LUJAC.
R3 1.17pm Maiden Handicap 1350m
This is the fillies and mares maiden which is far stronger than the colts and gelding version which is the previous race on the card.
GEORGETTE has been a consistent placegetter and deserves a win. She is well drawn here and should race on the pace.
DAME VAN WINKLE got a fair way back last start and made some ground to be third but was never a winning chance. Fitter for that run and looks hard to beat.
Her stablemate STRATUZY was scratched last week but looks well placed here.
HOORIYA had good middle distance form in Victorian maidens. Hasn't raced in five months and no official trials but stable is in form and could storm home late here.
SELECTIONS: NO3 GEORGETTE, NO2 DAME VAN WINKLE, NO3 STRATUZY, NO1 HOORIYA.
VALUE RUNNER: NO1 HOORIYA.
R4 1.52pm Class 3 Handicap 1640m
NIGHT ATTIRE has been racing consistently and should have no trouble stepping up to 1600m for the first time.
BRAZEN MOSS has been placed a few times lately and last start fifth was in a far tougher race. The big problem is he has shot up in the weights and that will be the test.
MARTIAL ART has been running in far harder races and has been placed this distance. He will be hard to beat here.
GOTHIC MIGHT has been working well and also trialled well last month. He was a good second at Ipswich last start and should have won. This is tougher but not much tougher.
SELECTIONS: NO5 NIGHT ATTIRE, NO1 BRAZEN MOSS, NO2 MARTIAL ART, NO7 GOTHIC MIGHT.
VALUE RUNNER: NO7 GOTHIC MIGHT.
R5 2.27pm Class 1 Plate 2040m
A very average lot of restricted class stayers and one can only ask why it is the first leg of the quaddie. But MEWSTONE ROCK was very strong at the end of 1600m in a last start win and her trainer has been waiting to get her to a middle distance. She should beat this lot.
ARRIBIATO has been running in unsuitable races and hasn't been too bad. He did run a place here at 2200m back in January so has a chance here.
DUKE OF CHRISTOPHE is no champion but he does try hard and is always an each way hope. He is well suited at the weights and has the in-form Jeff Lloyd to ride.
HOLY HARRY was a good Gold Coast winner two starts back and then things went wrong last start when well beaten this track. He will be good odds and the stable is having a purple patch in the past fortnight.
SELECTIONS: NO7 MEWSTONE ROCK, NO10 ARRIBIATO, NO11 DUKE OF CHRISTOPHE, NO3 HOLY HARRY.
VALUE RUNNER: NO3 HOLY HARRY.
R6 3.07pm Class 5 Handicap 1050m
SHARPE HUSSLER is resuming here after being scratched from a race on Saturday. He trialled okay recently and has won this track and distance. He should be in the finish in what is an average race.
WIGGLESWORTH looked home last start but got run down in the final stages. He will again be good odds here and worth a thought.
SAMMI JAIN was awful last start but there were excuses. She is much better this distance and has been placed in better quality races than this.
OL BROWN EYES is a good country track performer but on his best runs isn't out of it here from barrier one.
SEQUALEX would have been in the tips but drew the outside barrier and at the time of writing the stable was tossing up about running.
SELECTIONS: NO6 SHARPE HUSSLER, NO7 WIGGLESWORTH, NO2 SAMMI JAIN, NO8 OL BROWN EYES.
VALUE RUNNER: NO7 WIGGLESWORTH.
R7 3.45pm Benchmark 75 1200m
STORM FIGHTER was scratched from Doomben on Saturday for this. He looks very well placed here with the 3kgs claim and should be a good each way bet.
SCENIC ROAD is much better off here than his last start failure back in February. No official trial but he has reportedly gone well in a jump out. He has won twice first up and just has to overcome the poor barrier.
FORTINI is getting very close to a win and is another who will be in the finish.
ASSERTORY hit the line hard first up in a slick race. The pace will be on here so she will be motoring home late.
SELECTIONS: NO3 STORM FIGHTER, NO2 SCENIC ROAD, NO7 FORTINI, NO12 ASSERTORY.
VALUE RUNNER: NO12 ASSERTORY.
R8 4.23pm Class 4 Handicap 1350m
SHIPWRECKED is finally out to a suitable distance. He has been a disappointment after showing plenty early but gets his chance for another win here.
MOONLIGHT DANCER is an honest mare who is always around the place money. This race suits very well.
YABA DABL DOYA is one of the most honest restricted class horses here at the moment. He has a 3kgs claim here which is also a boost.
SAN TELMO is a stayer having his first start since coming north from Sydney but he caught the eye winning a Gold Coast trial recently beating two promising horses. One of those horses started odds on and ran third at Doomben on Saturday.
BEAUMARIS is no champion but every now and again he produces a top class run at odds. Liked the way he won a Deagon trial back in late June.
SELECTIONS: NO7 SHIPWRECKED, NO8 MOONLIGHT DANCER, NO1 YABA DABL DOYA, NO2 SAN TELMO.
VALUE RUNNER: NO10 BEAUMARIS.
